I was 18 months old. Sister was 5 years old. Our father was fatally injured in a car wreck in Chillicothe. All four men in the car which struck a bridge abutment died. My father lived about 24 hours. I am now 65 years old. I have always wondered if anyone in the area that is still loving remembers this wreck. I thought perhaps someone that was in the rescue team or even police department may remember. Since it was so long ago back when there were fewer car wrecks, it may be something someone would remember. Our mother never remarried but is now 89 and is in an assisted living memory care unit. She didn't tell us much about the accident. We have a picture of the car and a very old and frayed newspaper clipping. We have lived in Virginia ever since he died. Just throwing this out there for discussion.

There is a great group on Facebook called You Know You’re
From Chillicothe, OH When
I would suggest you request to join this group and then post this same question to the group. There are some amazing historians in the group that may be able to help. Good luck!

So sad for your loss. What year was this? My wife was born & raised in Chillicothe & has some long history there. Her Dad may have spoke of it, he lived there forever but passed in March at 93 yr old.

It wouldn’t hurt to contact the Sheriff office or OSP for any reports on it. I would personally be surprised if they kept files for that long, but it wouldn’t hurt to ask

Thank you for responding. Yes I wondered if any old timers may recall this accident. Of the four young men my father was the only one who did not die at the scene.
