Yeah I think they are trashy. Yes I have tats but they are where I can hide them if I want and show them off if I want. There is a time and place sometimes they are inappropriate to show off.

This is funny to me. Let me tell you why, I'm sure you're dying to know. I have several tattoos, yet I am not a person who would ever get one on my neck. All of mine can be covered while I'm at work and I'm a sharp-dressed-gal.
Additionally, each of my tattoos has their own story and is not necessary to prove that I'm not "boring" or lack "personality." (Quite the opposite actually) Oh, and I hate to disappoint ya, but I don't have any that say "Thug Life."
As far as people with tats on their faces... One of those face-tatted guys is a predator, so I'm glad he has that sh*t on his face, makes for easy-spotting!
One more thing- I bet all the people you're judging in this forum are out having a good time on this Friday night instead of sitting on a computer talking smack about people with tattoos.(Pansies)
AWESOME post!

<quoted text>It has always amazed me that people get visible tattoos (by that I mean tattoos that cannot be concealed) I donít care who you are tattoos are ugly. Chris Ofili was an artist he created art however I donít see people smearing themselves with dung to express themselves through art. If you love art so much create or bye some, still be prepared if you have a Chris Ofili hanging on your wall people will still say it looks like shit. The wall has no right to be offended by what people think of the art placed upon it. And why do we cover up walls because their bland so we feel the need to cover them with something to look at to make them more interesting. People with tattoos feel the need to force significance instead of being significant themselves. Tattoos scream from the skin I have issues I can resolve like an adult.

I believe the correct spelling for this sentence is *buy*

I'm confused as to why anyone gives a damn what others put on their bodies? It doesn't have an effect on your life, it's a choice they have to live with, not you. That's the problem with our messed up society, people spend way too much time worrying about how others live their lives and how others look, or present themselves. How about you work on yourself and worry about you?? It just seems there are much more important things going on in this world than judging each other on how we all look. If we could get people to put that energy into something positive that would make this town/world in general something better.
Agreed!

So what I have gathered from this is that because I have a few tattoos I am trashy, have no personality, on drugs and have been to prison. The sheer fact that you judge someone instantly because they have a tattoo show how ignorant this society has become. I am a stand up comedian, have never been to prison and have NEVER touched a drug in my life. I am also a veteran of operation Iraqi freedom and voluntarily assisted in relief efforts after hurricane Katrina and Rita ripped through New Orleans. I am also a family man and I would gladly give the shirt off of my back for a friend even if it was the last thing I had. I have six tattoos, each has a story and/or meaning about an event or period of my life and I would be more than happy to tell you what they are given the time. As far as the work thing goes, employers and businesses are becoming less strict about their tattoo policies.

You can judge someone. You can assume what you want. I am just here to get my point across. Tattoos are not a big deal like they used to be. Now, I for one am against kitchen and prison tats. It's gross and unsanitary. Not to mention
unsafe.

You seem like a bright guy. I'm sure you were aware of all these stuff before you got your first tattoo, so you shouldn't be surprised when nothing has changed after you got 'inked'.

The rest is generalities and doesn't apply to you sir,

Tattoo's do seem to be loosing there 'edginess' rapidly. Hard to be a tough guy by showing off your tattoo's when every teeny bopper has a tramp stamp 4x the size of the anchor/barbwire/tribal tattoo on your arm

I think a large (LARGE) portion of people that get face/neck tattoos are secretly wanting people to give them looks and comment on them. These are ways of gaining attention, and if everyone just ignored them (like some say they want), they would probably just do something more extreme to regain the attention

I have a tattoo and my title says RN. I am also a drug free girl. I think what you do with your appearance is always judgeable by others. Care factor for me is zip. I have enough self esteem. Judge me all you want. I think tats are sexy. I've dated guys that have none as well as my boyfriend who has a chest piece and sleeve. Different strokes. Makes the world go round.

Well, I am almost 30, a successful career woman, married with 2 children. My husband and I are both college educated and most certainly not drug addicts. We both have two tattoos and they are sentimental to us. Just bc you have tattoos shouuldnt classify us a low class, uneducated, trash. We stay healthy and educate our children. We pay our bills, spend our time with our kids, and lead normal every day lives. Please don't9594 judge a book by its cover!

So let me see if I have this straight.... I am a female over 30 and have tattoos (10 actually) so that makes me a tattooed skank? Hmmmm.....thank you for informing me of this! I am devastated to learn I am not the person I thought I was......
I guess being well educated, having a great job, being clean, honest, dependable, taking care of my children, and not judging other people is just a waste of my time. Thank you sooo much for letting me know! Now I can just sit on my ass, mooch off society, be a barfly, and FiNALLY get that neck tattoo so I am more easily identifiable to you high society folks!
Awesome answer :) I like you am over 3o, educated , however I DO have a neck tat. It is on the back of my neck and can only be seen when I wear my hair down.

This is why tattoos are no longer edgy or unique. Ear piercing were probably once 'shocking', but any more tattoos are becoming as 'vanilla' as an ear piercing.

Mind ur own business ppl! If u don't like em so what! I bet ppl don't like u either but they don't make forums about ya! Get a life! Tattoos are a way of expression! And I hate ppl who say well I have em but they can be covered! Yay for u!

You "hate" people who have them and can cover them when appropriate? That's a bit harsh and immature. But, to each his or her own. My professional life and my personal life are separate. Since I have a family I am responsible for, my professional attire reflects my career and not my lifestyle. When I'm not at work, I dress freely and my tatts are visible because I dress as I choose. If you must hate people who are able to cover their tattoos to earn a living, more power to ya. Lol I will add you to the list of people who hate me for nonsense. ;)

If u can't show em u shouldn't have em! Lucky for me my job allows them :) if u think them showing is trashy or if u think there is anything trashy about them u are just a hypocrite who shouldn't have any at all! Period!
