what would you like to know? I think it's a great place for kids to join football, cheerleading, and baseball. Lots of people working hard to keep it running in the right direction and change the face of it. Gonna be great in the next couple yrs as long as things go the right way and trouble stays out.

If there is a concern of someone acting inappropriately as in being doped up then possibly but I have never ran across a coach that did anything of the sort. And everyone has to pass a background check before they can assist with children. If they are volunteering their time and the only payment is knowing they made a difference in a child's life then I don't think they should be whammies for no reason with a drug test. Not sure where this is all coming from but I don't see a drug test concern until given something to need it for.

I know they have background checks. How thorough are they? How far back do they go? Do they check out medical? Do they check out stuff if you lived in another state? Etc
they go back as far as any background check goes I guess. Medical is protected by the HIPAA laws. Medical wouldn't matter anyway because if a doctor gives you medication it's most likely necessary and definitely not illegal. As far as out of state I think a BCI check is needed but not sure on that. They could probably use somebody like you that could help in anyway in protecting the children.

If a child is participating in ANY sport, the parents need to be around to watch their games, support them when needed AND keep an eye for low-lifes that would take advantage of children. If you do not wish to be where your children are, maybe you should consider keeping your children where you are. Better they be deprived of participating in some sport than take the risk of being mistreated.

MLP Park, like many areas, has it ups and downs. It depends on who is running it and if they are doing it for their own ego or for the benefit of the kids. The only way you will know is if you attend your childs activities.

I think everyone should be drug tested for any kind of employment... Factory, doctors offices, coaches, food.. Etc. ever hear how speed is a "business mans high" ? It's not just people living off of welfare. It's every where, can be anyone.

Honestly, I'm being dramatic.. I don't think they should drug test coaches unless it's a college coach or something... Most of these little kids leagues the parents are there for every practice or game. They can keep an eye out for their own child. A coach isn't a babysitter. & if their "drug use" doesn't interfere with their teaching, then you will never know if they're on something.

Then again, my opinion doesn't matter.

Yep know what you mean.I was there when the flag football program was run by a bunch of bozos who brought prison inmates in to be the officials. The use of Industrial Velcro used to hold the flags on, shorter flags, flags sewn on and thumb tacks in the flags were also common pratices for some teams. The guy who was the flag league "commissioner of football" and his wife were later caught stealing money from a city league program. She was also over the concession stand at mary lou patton's ball park for years.
