It has come to my attention that my children do not understand appreciation. They have never been hungry or wanted for anything. My husband and I work hard so they can enjoy being young. Don't get me wrong, they are not spoiled brats, they just don't understand the concept of appreciating what they have. I have decided that they each have to go through their toys and pick some out that they want to give to another little boy and girl who may not get very much for Christmas. These will not be junk, but very nice toys. I want them to go to a family that truly deserve them, not someone who will just turn around and sell them, I could just as easily sell them myself. Please, if you have something negative to say, just refrain from replying. If you know of anyone who would be interested in this, please respond. The ages that these toys would benefit is 4-7, boys and girls. Thank you.

Maybe you shouldn't have bought them so many things in the first place you are making your kids sound like spoiled brats either way and by saying they aren't isn't helping your case I say you got them these things and making them give god nice toys away might not be the coolest thing you've ever done

I've had my daughter do this for years. I can't say I made her, instead I discussed with her the importance of giving. She understood that at a very young age. Trust me, she's spoiled too. The kids of today have no concept of what it's like to do without. Most of that is our own faults. She's donated clothes, dolls, you name it. It's good for them to sit there and think of something that would benefit someone else. You might eventually see your children take satisfaction in the thought that they are helping someone else out instead of them thinking that they are doing without. Good luck.

Every year my son and I go thru his toys and clothes to make room for the new, and we donate it to th domestic violence shelter for women and children. Just think... some of these families that are lucky enough to escape do it in the middle of he night with only the clothes on their backs. They are families truley in need... just a sugestion!

Tbay has te right idea. All I'm saying is you shouldn't make your kids give away their stuff. Discuss the importance of giving. I'm all for that its the no option I have a problem with.
If I decide not to give a bum some Change. And say I see you give the bum 10 dollars. I wouldn't judge you just the same as if you just walked by the bum. Because you have the option and so should your kids. And I don't think I'm an asshole at all for saying it so whatever is clever in your pathetic skulls.

Have you ever seen the prices on the things at good will! I used to take thing there myself intill my wife wanted to go into there. I about fell over after seeing the prices I would never give them another thing. Goodwill is to help poor familys but the prices on them you could buy new.

Miracle menace- I guess I did word that wrong. I'm not going to make them give up their favorite toys. We have talked about it, and they are going to pick the toys that they no longer play with. Poor choice of words on my end. Jim- that is exactly why I don't want to take the toys there!! Thanks for all the advice!! My kids are still quite young I'm hoping that this will help to instill a sense a appreciation for how lucky they are.

I have a girlfriend who is always in need of such things she works with displaced families. If there is away to get a hold of you please let me know. Your children's donations will be put to great use. I would also like to say you are teaching your children an invaluable lesson in life.

See that sounds much better I like the fact we as Americans have somewhat of a choice.

And for those who think what I said was to be an asshole you are wrong! I just like that we have choices and children deserve choices in these types of matters. It's obvious they don't have a choice in some factors. Like school, bathing and such so they deserve some choices of their own in my opinion.

I donate and buy at Goodwill on a regular basis and their stuff is not over priced. Not once have I seen something price near the new price however maybe a couple of times I thought the price was a little high, so I didn't buy it. It is not a retail store and they do try really hard to price everything fair. The money from the store goes for a very worthy cause.
