Just finding myself curious, but what are your opinions on Evolution?
Do you accept Evolution as scientific fact? Are you a creationist? Do you feel there is some third possibility? |

I am kinda up in the air about evolution. Because if we evolved from apes then why arent they still evolving? Ya know? |

Allow to explain a few things. 1.) We didn't evolve from apes. Apes and humans had a common ancestor which means if you go back far enough there was a species that separated and one group became humans and the other apes. Think of it like England. A group of Englishman left England for the Americas, and over time developed their own country and became Americans.( kinda quickly thought up analogy but it works ) 2.) Apes and humans and all species are very much still evolving. Evolution is a very very very slow process. It happens over many generations. It's not something that'll happen over night. |

You should look it up sometime. It's actually a fascinating thing to read into, and beyond that it explains everything so well. Not to mention there is a mountain of evidence for it :D My favorite being human chromosome #2 |

That show is ridiculous, and not even kind of educational. Yes, aliens more than likely exist. No, aliens didn't fly around shooting dinsaurs from UFO's. |

My theory is this.
We(humans and/or bipedal mammals) are roughly one million years old. Given that the best guesstimation of the age of the Universe is 14.5B years old. Earth is about 4.5B years old. It wouldn't surprise me that a species that is billions of years older than we are visited our planet many many moons ago. They saw where we were in our evolution and maybe helped speed up the process.(i.e. the missing link.) "God" could very well be a higher intelligent being than us.(most likely is,The man in a golden robe is a depiction that we use to relate) We really aren't that smart compared to some of the animals that cohabit the planet with us. Life exists in the "Goldilocks" zones in countless solar systems. We barely have made it to the moon. Me personally, I think it's awesome that we aren't the only intelligence in the Universe. The Indian culture has written history that is 12,000 years old. Right at the end of the last Ice Age. That's about as far back that is known about for us. You have to remember we are but babes in the grand scheme of things. |

Totally agree with you on this, for people that have supposedly evolved we can be pretty stupid.Acient aliens is kinda goofy but i do think they raise some interesting points. |

This is exactly what I've been reading about for the last 2 weeks. I'm more confused than ever. Confused to the point of giving up reading anything else about it and then it pops up on topix. I don't want to believe in evolution but, the proof is there.

You don't have to believe in "evolution." You don't have to believe modern religion. Part of being human is being able to differentiate from the two. We know little about our early ancestors. Science is a means to finding the answers. Most religions are based on some science and some beliefs. Do you remember the game telephone? I tell you something you tell someone else and so on. The story ultimately gets changed due to the loss in translation. We wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of the original Hebrew bible. It has been reworded many times and material has been omitted. The Apocryphal texts are little known books that weren't deemed necessary for the common man. If I'm not mistaken we are on the 13th variation of the Good Book.(KJV,NIV,Holman Christian are all in that generation) I'm not saying I'm right nor am I saying that I'm wrong. I'd like to think that my afterlife will be filled with golf and bikini girls feeding me grapes and fanning me with fans made of feathers. We will never know what happens after death until we draw our last breath. Life exists because the conditions are right. Ample water, oxygen and the replenishment of both. I'm going to post a link and see if that helps you any:http://www.talkorigins.org /faqs/homs/species |

U do have some good points definitely. I was brought up in church believing that God created us all. But like u said about the Bible, it has been ran thru and translated so many times that im sure stuff has been left out, added, or misinterpretted |

I was too. I still believe in a Higher Power. I would be foolish not too. Jesus might very well have been a real legitimate person. If in fact, the powers that be had something to do with his birth. He would've had other worldly powers of healing and transmuting. Unfortunately , nary a single person alive today was present at that time so we can only speculate what happened. If we are the only intelligence in the Universe I feel sorry for it. We can't even feed the habitants of our planet. Let alone solve the major problems that afflict theHeavens and the Earth. |

I have been reading The Agnostic Bible here latley gives it a different spin on the King James version. Our universe is vast and unexplored and to think we are the only intelligent life is pretty presumptuous of us.

Read Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard Bach. It's a short book, you can read it in less than an hour. It's an interesting read and it is kind of relevant.

I can't say I believe in any sort of higher power. I think the idea is a little absurd myself. Maybe it's possible, however, it seem very unlikely. Yes, if humans are all there is in the universe I also feel quite concerned. We're a rather pathetic race honestly. Not even really all that intelligent. Most of us are barely a step above a basic animal anymore. |

For me a higher power is an energy,a power greater than me,its a spiriual thing not religious. |
