I think everyone read about the Adena Emergency Department and how they didn't accept most insurance.
Well, I just got a denial to pay for their radiology department because 'Columbus Radiology' is not a covered provider. How much of Adena is out sourced???
They used to have their own radiologist, but it appears not any longer!! Looks like I need to look elsewhere for treatment!!!

I had to make an emergency trip there for a fall I had and have very good insurance. After paying a small fee that they said my insurance wouldn't pay, 7 MONTHS later I received an additional bill for 800.00. I was livid. There hospital is the biggest RIP OFF of any place that I've ever been too.I amm making 'payments' to them this time but when that last payment is made I plan on writing in BIG letters ,PAID IN FULL. If they wait and send me anymore 'bills' then they will hear from my attorney. I have a nephew that went there with no insurance and his bill was paid in full so I guess I was 'made' to pay for his bill. I would not recomend that hospital to NO ONE.....

I thought they had that all staightened out now. I thought it was the traveling ER doctors that were not covered by insurance companies. It is hard to keep up with. Hate to have to deal with medical insurance. It is bad enough that you have to question every procedure or test to make sure that it is covered, imagine how it would be if you were unable to even ask?(accident and unable to speak)

Hey, they have to pay for that waste of money "cancer center" out in the corn field somehow. They are already making their employees use their raises this year to help pay for it and they certainly can't get enough fools from the community to go there for cancer treatments so someones got to pay, might as well be the you if you're stupid enough to go there.

Absolutely correct. Why would anyone with an ounce of common sense go to Adena for cancer care when there is a nationally known cancer treatment center less than an hour away.

Adena is "outsourcing" every department they can. They are forcing all of the local physicians to either become employees of Adena or move out of the area. Many have already moved.

7 months? That was rapid service. I recieved one over 14 months after the service was provided. I asked for a detailed explanation of the bill and than took that to my insurance company. It turned out that Adena had improperly billed for the service they had provided. After repeated calls to Adena's Billing department, I finally found the ONLY competant employee they have and the problem was immediatedly corrected. My insurtance paid.

Adena laid off over a 100 employees in records, coding and transcription by contracting their jobs out. The former Adena employees who were stupid enough to hire in with the contractor lost their insurance, retirement, vacation time and their pay was reduced. They would have recieved better benefits on unemployment.

Current Adena employees and especially those that work for the Pike County Hospital should be very afraid for their jobs and benefits. Contract nurses are being paid almost twice as much as Adena employees but they recieve no benefits.

Notice who sponsors most big activities in Chillicothe? Berger.
My family has started to switch our doctors to Berger because Adena isnt meeting our expectations. They are too greedy.
Billing is terrible and I know the employees are not treated great. It's a shame.
You have to wonder what the Board thinks of the CEOs decisions.

To all the poor employees that feel they are stuck at adema you have two choices, leave like I did or call a union. what do you have to loose? If you've been there more than 5 years you already have a target on your back.
Trust me, there is life after adema.

I contacted my insurance company to ask if Adena had submitted a bill for a service provided 6 months ago. Adena is an in network provider. My insurance company said that since they are in network, they have 6 months to submit the claim (out of network has longer). Anyway, since they have not submitted it and if they submit it late, my insurance said to contact them in Adena tries to bill me. I was told that Adena would have to prove that they tried to bill me for the charge (this was in September and I had the same insurance for over a year prior to that). I was told that I should not have to pay the charge due to Adena not submitting the bill within the time frame. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Adena Horror story #2: I had $2,400 worth of testing completed in August. I just got the bill this week. Insurance said that Adena had submitted it to them within the 6 month period. Adena billed me over $800. Insurance said that I should have been billed $350. This is the SECOND time in less than a year that they have over billed me by nearly double!!!! So, my advice is to talk with your insurance and review your explanation of benefits to make sure that you are not being overcharged. Also check with your insurance if they are taking longer than they should to bill your insurance. I seriously dislike Adena and plan to switch to Berger or go to Columbus.

I wouldn't recommend Adena to my worst enemy.
They send me anymore bills 7 months later
They'll be on 4, 6, and 10 news stations I will guarantee that.......
I would rather pay an attorney then to pay them one more thin dime.
Bottom line
Don't go there.........

The only way the TRUTH will get out is when people speak up. You never have to believe what is said but it might help to know what to expect from the communities medical care provider.

Adena does not care what your insurance does or does not pay. They simply come after you for what they say is owed. The insurance companies have no control over Adena beyond deciding how much they are going to pay. Adena does such a poor job of documenting their claims to insurance companies, they are rarely paid anywhere close to the billed amount. Whatever is unpaid by the insurance companies is left for you to pay.
