So what job did you take? Are you still waiting for the right one? So they just offered you a job there and you turned it down? That's not how it works lame!

It makes me sick all of American jobs are across seas. Then the little jobs we do have we get layed off. Now I know why there are so many crimes people cant find work. American is just sad.

This is very discouraging; not only to those employees losing their jobs, but to the many others of us job seekers who were hoping to find work there as well. Obviously now our hope was sadly misplaced.

No. They offered me a interview. I would have been hire because of my background. I took another position with a company in the Columbus area. I hope they all get called back. I knew it was coming.

I hope there is nobody in this group who left a good job to take a "slightly" better one at Kenworth. With luck, they will not be laid off for long. That's the major concern with Kenworth. The employees feel like a yo-yo going up and down with the orders. I understand Kenworth's position but still it is sad when this happens.

That stinks....I know a few people that took jobs there and thought they were going to keep it...and now they are laying them off. As for they will be called back in 3 or 4 weeks - really - cause my cousins hubby had worked at Kenworth for 5 years and then was laid off for 3 years and just went back a few months ago. I hope everyone that gets laid off can find a new job.

Kenworth is rock solid financially and they have to do this from time to time to match orders. I understand that. I too am sad for those affected, but I think it will be a short layoff and hopefully they can live on unemployment, enjoy some springtime and get back to work soon.

Those of you laid off, our prayers are with you. keep your heads up.

At least they were layed off. This way they can collect unemployment. If you worked at Adena they would just fire you and fight the unemployment claim for months on end.

Some of them have only been there a month or less. Can they draw unemployment?

Hmm.... Fine point. I'm on unemployment for the first time in my life right now, so I am not so sure about that. I can't believe that they didn't have the foresight to see the layoffs coming while they're hiring in newbies.

In 2011 I worked for MPW inside of Kenworth doing cleaning. This was right as they began hiring for the second shift; it was thought the new orders would keep these people employed for 2 years. I heard a maintenance man say it wouldn’t last a year. I guess he was right. I feel terrible for the people losing their jobs. I personally know several individuals who left jobs they had been at for some time in order to take these positions. I truly hope this is a very short lay-off. I wish all those affected the best of luck. SAD

This is a real shame. People have been hired within hte last 4-6 weeks that are now being laid off. Some probably gave up other jobs to go to work at Kenworth. Now they are unemployed. I don't know how long you must work to qualify for unemployment but EVERY employer should be required to keep people working at least long enough to qualify for the unemployment. It's only fair.

I believe they require 21 consecutive weeks of work to qualify. Not completely sure though

I completely agree with you and someone else pointed out they should have foreseen that productivity was going to go down as well I agree with that also. Its hugely unfair these people left perfectly good jobs believing they were taking a step up. Allot of people identify themselves from the job they do so you know what this has done to some. I hope they will be able to atleast draw unemployment. I know far to many people who lost their homes when the bottom feel out of the housing market and allot of hard working individuals that you would have never guessed would need assistance are getting help from welfare just to be able to eat. Our community has far to little decent paying jobs. Most drive to Columbus and back how are they going to countinue to do this if gas prices keep going up? No one said life was fair, but what are we supposed to do if the working class keep getting squeezed harder and harder? Soon there will only be two classes rich and poor nothing in between.
