Chillicothe, Mo.— Two prominent R-2 administrators handed in their letters of resignation Tuesday night at the Chillicothe R-2 regular school board meeting: Chillicothe High School principal Tony Perry and Chillicothe Middle School principal Dr. Bryan Copple.

Perry stated today (Wednesday) that he had accepted a superintendent position at an area school. Perry has had his certificate and has been qualified through the Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education for two years now. A position became available in which Perry applied. He interviewed and was hired in the same evening and will announce which area school at a later date.

He went on to say that in his nine years at the high school (five as the assistant principal and A+ coordinator and four as principal), he has seen many good students become teachers and is pleased that the different departments at the high school, such as English and math, an opportunity to come back to the board in two weeks with ideas for the budget.

Dr. Bryan Copple has been principal at the middle school for three years now and did not express at this time any specific plans after handing in his resignation. He did state that it was time to move on and look for other opportunities and challenges.

“We’ve accomplished a lot of things,” he said today.“Test scores are at their highest, discipline is at its lowest and attendance rates are high.”

The hardest part he stated will be leaving the students.

“I’ve really enjoyed having the privileged to work with the students at CMS and have based all of my decisions on what is best for the students.”

He said that it is important to be honest, fair and consistant and to treat all people in a respectful manor.

Bryan Copple is a fair and good man; he is young and needs to continue to grow professionally, but he is honest which is more than some above him can say.

Otto, don't worry about it. Anyone dumb enough not to know the difference between are and our can't judge any educational personnel.

Lobo,
You are right! I thought the same about
goldbird's comment.
Otto,
I don't think they are bad principals. I can not say for sure about the high school principal, but the middle school principal IS fair.

When you talk about being fair, are you referring to the students, teachers, or other building employees?

Ummm yeah ok, whatever. I'm just guessing by the numerous typos and and grammatical mistakes that you probably are not or were not a really good student.

Our close friends' children have had the principal at the middle school for three years altogether. I have picked up the students several times. The principal tried to speak to each and every student with whom he came in contact. Our friends have said their students' self esteem has risen since they have been there (they formally went to another school-not R-II).
I can not speak for treatment of staff, but ipersonally have heard no negative comments. Many smiles when I was there.

This is hilarious! Mr. Perry was not given a quit or be fired ultimatum. He resigned on his own, to persue a a better position than the one he currently holds. At this point, that would not take much. After dealing with the worst superintendant the R-2 district has ever had,and a board that will go right along with whatever she says, and that idiot that she put in charge of the janitors, I don't blame Mr. perry one bit.

Congrats Tony, and you will be missed!

If people only knew what was really going on there, and how a school district should be run. Everyone thinks they have a solution, but its hard to have the solution if you don't understand the problem.
One simple question to ponder..... Why is Dr. Smith still calling the shots when she resigned at the beginning of the school year?
She obviously has/had no interest in the students, she just wants to ruin the place and move on while collecting a paycheck. She should have been bought out a long time ago so that someone could come in and start 'cleaning up' instead of allowing her to hang around and sink the ship even more.

Maybe because she is still on the job until June 30,2010?

I mean, if she wasn't calling the shots and was still getting paid, you'd be bitching about that too!

I have a feeling that after a year of this new guy, you all are going to wish Dr. Smith was still here "calling the shots".

I just think as long as we have the same members on the board that NOTHING will ever change for the better. We need new blood all the way around. NO MORE FOLLOWERS. WE NEED THINKERS!

I am almost entertained that two board members had the audacity to put their names back on the ballot after the trailer fiasco. They won't receive my vote.

It will be just like the city council primary. The incumbants are screwed! My vote will be for movers and shakers, not "yes" men.
