Has anyone noticed the language people use these days working with the public?
My husband and I make a huge effort not to cuss and use foul laungage. Expect the same of our kids. Generally when one of them does it doesn't take long to get back to us about it then we pray. But lately it seems no matter where we go we are exposed to it. The realtor showing us houses the other day....awful. A gentleman, who is high enough up, at hy vee, nasty mouth. Again yesterday at hyvee behind the deli one of the long time people were mad at a decision about something, yelling at a coworker cussing. Awful awful awful. Just a few examples of many. |

Did you mention the two Hy-Vee instances to the store's head manager?
I usually try to watch my language when not around close friends. I also always do things like hold the door open for strangers. It's amazing how many people walk thru with out a "thank you" or even a smile. |

It may not get you anywhere but this is what I've done.
Fill out the comment cards where you go. Make sure you include ALL the information they ask for. I have been called personally by the Hy-Vee manager before after filling out one such card. He does pay attention. If that doesn't achieve some attention then place an email through the main companys website. If anything you may not get your end goal achieved but you may get some coupons or gift cards at least. |

2 In Kansas City you get respect because nobody knows anybody and they don't know if you are carrying a weapon or not. So yes, they hold doors, please, thank you, go ahead of me, are you sure, That's how it is. In Chillicothe, bitch at the employees, treat them like dirt and hope to get 'em fired. Then you will have a job or your friend or relative. Yep, that's Chillicothe. So down and out and no job prospects so it is dog eat dog! |

Actually, Chillicothe does have an issue with politeness and customer service regardless of who you are or how much you spend. It's not all get someone fired and yada yada yada. I complained for a very good reason, or at least my husband thought so. We suggested they not fire, but at least properly train employees in customer service. I was 6 months pregnant, swollen feet, much less couldn't see them, and I would get bumped, ignored, and once shoved by employees at various businesses around Chillicothe. Hy-Vee was the only place I would eventually shop since they offered to shop for me, encourage me to drive up, employees stopped, took my cart for me and loaded my items in my car out in the lot without asking, and they brought me an electric cart once when I began to wear out in the store. I didn't even ask! A man just told me to wait right there and came back with one. Not once did I ever get an offer to help with anything at other retailers. Whether it be if I needed assistance finding an item, ask if I found everything, a door held, a large object lifted, and even employees looked at me crappy when I had to use a wheelchair or electric cart. Not everyone needs to be a two ton tessy to use these folks! |

Most of the problem is employees not being properly trained. We have many teenagers out working their first job and they need to be started out right in the beginning. Again you have to have good employees in the top jobs for it to trickle down. We can see this all over town, Walmart, Hyvee, Chillicothe school system, etc. I'm not saying every employee that works at these places are bad but you can see a difference in younger and newer employees. This is why so many young people want to come back here because it is easier.

You're luckier than I've ever been. I've been left standing stunned at some of the rude behavior from service employees. Usually I'm the one that wishes them a good day or hope it gets better! One reason I've steered my dollars away from Chilli merchants. If I'm going to put up with lousy service then I'm not going to pay for it. I'll buy from Aldi, Sam's Club, and other retailers when I hit North Oak, KC and St Joe. |

I apologize for coming off hatefull for that remark. Actually one of my closest friends and sometimes even my mother need those carts due to their weight. Just irks me that people think you have to be handicapped, elderly, or have weight issues to use them. |
