Anybody besides me eat there back in the 50s.

Couldn't afford much, but usually had a Coke and got off the feet for awhile.

Every Tuesday they had a drawing for cash and you had to be present in a store downtown.

We never won anything, but they had something we didn't have at home AIR CONDITIONING.

Katie and Don--Woolworths closed its stores in 1997. HOWEVER, there is an FW Woolworth lunch counter located in the International Civil Rights Center and Museum in Greensboro, North Carolina. I feel like a matchmaker...So is it a date Katie and where will you be taking Don out to?

LOL--If you two hook-up as a couple make sure you invite all the Chilli Topix posters. We would love to pitch rice!

I used to go there with my Mom & Dad on Saturday nights. All the stores on the square were always open till nine o'clock. I remember all the trees around the courthouse.

My Dad bought me a hoola-hoop from Woolworths. It cost 89 cents.... I thought he was gonna crap his pants because the price was SO high.

Ah Katie...are you welching on that bet? After all, you said above you would take Don out. You didn't specify WHERE you would take him.

Let's see...you both are from KC, you both post on Chilli Topix, you both seem nice, you both like to eat lunch...

Love is in the air, but only if you dare! LOL

BTW you could take Johnn along as your Duenna--his presence would definitely quash any thoughts of hanky panky.

Hey Don I am still up if you can find one closer. I would think there would be one around closer. What about Springfield or St. Louis.

I think all F W Woolworth's are gone. Now I am a fixin' to head out to Little Rock, AR area to get some large pecan halves come frost, another of my one day adventures of leave home really early, maybe 4 AM and be back home by 2 AM the next day---won't have to pay the motel man--just drink that diet Coke and drive.
