I know someone offered to buy the ba. they told them it's not for sale. you'd think if it's not making the money they wanted -- it would be for sale.

You are obviously confused. I suggest you call Robert Cowherd, Chuck Haney or Butch Schaeffer for information regarding Grand River Entertainment---Butch is the President; Chuck Haney and Robert Cowherd are both on the board. Why mess with second hand information here on Topix when you can pick up a telephone and go directly to the source?

Well from what i know as a former bowler and being in the know, the Entertainment Board is about the most pathetic excuse of a Board around. Do any of them bowl? NO! They have no idea about bowling industry. They dont even come out to support when the Pro Bowlers are in town. They might have had a little welcome dinner for them that takes 15min but thats the only time they make their presence known. They spend money on non-needed things instead of letting the center use money for things needed such as parts need for machines and other repairs needed to keep things in running shape. They spent money on painting a sidewalk orange, why? I heard they recently spent money on 3 or 4 new tv's in the bar when there are already 5 or 6 that sit in there hardly getting watched cuz there are no specials during football, basketball, baseball games of any level Pro or College. Its funny how these people put it lots of money for an entertainment center but do absolutely nothing to support it and use money for stuff they think they want instead of letting the center use the money to make it better for the People like League Bowlers who in essence make the money for the center. Keep spendin money on stupid stuff and lose league bowlers then you'll be locking up the doors and shuttin down. Until the actual power is given to the people who are at the Center to run it and not the Board running things behind the scence i will take my bowling elsewhere.

Former lg bowler kudos to ya! You hot the nail on the head! I have been a lg bowler for many years. I have it on good authority that the GREBMs had 3or 4 show up at the meal for the PBAs after their Friday afternoon practice session. After eating they each gave very brief comments then headed out to the Mudcats game. And no, I don't have anything against the "cats". For a bunch of so called business people (?) they have a lot to prove. These are the ones who 3years ago brought in "the man with the colored glasses (Aka Rick Mason). This guy all but dig the grave for the BA. You don't make much profit when you give everything away for free. Thus, the city had to get them out of hock. They let the last mgr go without any reason then put in 2 gals to run the place that don't know about the mechanics of the business. If the members had to step in and help they would be totally clueless. Hello? And yes, there were already 5 big screens in the bar/grill. They needed 4 more like they need a hole in their heads! Whoops! Maybe that's the problem! They could really use a reality check!

the grand river entertainment is more than butch, chuck, and cowherd. they also own the mudcats. the cats play on the city owned ballpark. i hope you read the contrab.in the local paper the home owners experience with the mudcat fans. i believe the cats should be sold and those proceeds could help bailout the bowling alley. what bothers me is if you as a tax payer had a business fail could you expect the citizens to bail them out? are you sick of policies of chillville?

Correct, there are more than just them on the Board for the Mudcats. There is an appointed few that make up the Board for the Bowling Center. Butch is the president but from what i know Cowherd is the "say all" for what goes on. But he doesnt have much of a clue about anything. If the place ever happens to go under its all on him and the rest of the board.

Have you ever been to a bowling center (anywhere) that has a resturant and bar the calibar of the one here in chilli? I think the board has this thing about food and drinking and would rather support Victorys bar and grill than the bowling center. It seems to me they would rather spend money on flat screen tv's that they didn't need instead of putting in ceiling fans in the bowling area to help circulate the air. They don't know that bowlers on a leauge get hot and sweaty and would appreciate it to bowl in more comfort. Also they don't know there needs to be a low wall for guests to sit at and watch the bowlers. This will help the bowlers to bowl by not having kids running on the tile floor and spilling their drinks or tracking in rain on their shoes. If a bowler was to step on it could cause him or her to fall and effect their bowling game. Then there could be storage on the bowler side for bowling bags and equipment the bowler brings in rather than having to step over them or causing injury to them.

I just heard today that Jason Romeiser bowled an 804 series on monday night. Just wonder if any board member even knows what a challange that is and do you think they thought enough to let him know how proud they are of him especialy when he works for them. I'm going to call the center to let him know myself. Maybe some of you should also.

And yea and in the bathrooms they could have had toilet seats made of solid gold. Oh and in the parking lot how about someone out there to park your car for you. And how about heated and air conditioned seats to sit on while you are waiting your turn to bowl? Oh and they could have robots there to bring you your ball when its your turn to bowl so that you don't have to bend over to pick up your ball. Oh and rip out that bar and just have kool-aid and cooks for the bowlers to eat and drink. and they could have put the bathrooms right on the lanes so that the bowlers don't have to walk so far to take a wiz. in fact, why don't they just hire professional bowler to work there and play the games for you, so that you don't even have to get off your fat butt and risk getting hot since they didn't put in any ceiling fans?

Johnn, obviously you have never been a league bowler let alone stepped foot inside the bowling center here or anywhere else! When there are 50 or more in there it does get pretty warm. The former center had ceiling fans spaced evenly thru. As for a pro to bowl for you, the person valid citizen spoke of has been in the PBA Midwest regionals here since 2006 and is also a certified bowling instuctor. Perhaps you might want to call out there and book a lesson. If you don't, then maybe you should go out some evening when leagues are going on and see for yourself. But go soon as the fall/winter leagues are over in a couple of weeks then summer ones will start the latter part of this month. I am a league bowler and I DO know what I'm talkin about!

Johnn-- you are correct in the true name of the board, but for getting the point across to you and others not knowing what goes on in a bowling center. the conversaton was made and still is a fact. My coment on things they need to change as to what they have done is common scence not stupid remarks. Unlike yours being made and having no idea as to what on earth you are talking about.

Please don't take me wrong, but i was told they do have a certified bowling instructor at the center. You might want to think about taking lessons if you would care to learn more about bowling.

Good luck Johnn and happy bowling.
