This ran in the St Joe Newspress about your famous Terry and what happened to him:

And in 1987, former Public Administrator Terry Rumery pleaded guilty to stealing and official
misconduct after he confessed to embezzling more than $40,000 from estates under his supervision -
three.
Mr. Rumery took office in 1984, but resigned in 1986 before serving about six months in the Buchanan
County Jail. He was placed on five years probation and ordered to pay restitution.

Robert Cowherd said Terry Rummery is very cheap for what he does. Only 36K/year. I just like to have people I can trust. If he would do that, and take an oath to just work for the Citizens of Chillicothe, and not himself or other Ciries, I would feel more comfortable. I lso think Adam Warren should do the attorneys work for the City, not outside attorneys who can work both sides of the fence. Mr Cowherd suggested the City forgive almost $500,000 for the Grand River Inn, then we see him later asking the City to buy part of the Grand River Inn for $400,000+. I would like to hear from either them or the Council, how and why any of this makes sense. I challenge any of them to write here on Topix, and put thier real names and explain this stuff to us. If I'm misguided, I will apologize.

Do you have a link to this? I didn't know this, I was told through the grape vine, he worked for a state rep. and took the bullet for him, this would put that to rest. Didn't he work for green hills before going out on his own? If so, why did they hire him?

St. Joe kid, are you sure? If you are correct, then the council has a lot of explaining to do as to why they pay him so much money. There are not jobs to speak of in Chillicothe now and he's been here how long?
I think I see what needs to be a line item veto for an expense that has done no good. He's the one thats, you build it and they will come. Fact is people are leaving in droves for a job. People are communting daily to Kansas City for a job.
I read on here that he works for other towns too--so he must also work against us. No man can answer to two masters.
That would be reason enough not renew his contract.
Pay for performance only. The economy ain't been bad all along. No, I say dump the expense.

After reading the links provided by the StJoeKid I'm interested to hear why the city hired him.

His previous employers certainly had a chore of earning back their clients trust apparently.

Rumery's $'s are paid by four entities, each paying $9000, they are: City of Chillicothe, CMU, Chillicothe Industrial Development Corp & Farmers Electric Cooperative. He also gets to represent other cities as well and most importantly, gets to decide on which city will get his priority attention. This will obviously not have any conflicts.

Sorry folks...Im not Terry Rummery, but it makes for interesting fodder, doesn't it. I said this a long time ago, you all don't really want different opinions, you just want to complain. Again, it would be nice if all this energy went into helping projects in Chillicothe instead of tearing them down, but I'm still sure that is too much to ask.

How is taking the time to double check someones qualifications tearing down Chillicothe? Taking time to double check to prevent irresponsible spending is bad?

Actually by coming on here and complaining about people complaining isn't going to accomplish anything either.

Our apologies for thinking you might be the person refered to in the St. Joe kid articles. But rather than challenging us to do more work, roll up your sleeves and present the material you have that will proves us wrong. Don't criticise us, if you aren't willing to show us what you have. As you can see: we weren't wrong on Rummery's past.

After reading the St.Joe Kids links, I say Rummery needs to go and the city fathers need to go for hiring him with the past and his current business dealings.

What I wanna know is this. Why does he not still work solely for the REA and how did they end up having to pay part of his new salary.

I would think after the stinker of deal they had with the Fuel Expresso, They like to never get it sold, and it has such high over head it is nearly impossible to turn a profit.

Disagree, then why was it on the market so long during good economic times and why did they have to find a buyer so far from the area?

I say Rummery's opinions are of questionable value.
