I went out to see the river and flooding today. How does this compare to the flood of 1993, I wasn't around then?

in 93 the water was past mauntinos and Chruch hills (the school admin building) was flooded a good bit. The duck club area was completly full half way up the road and everyone was jetskiing in the nasty water! where the end of hillcrest is now and meets virginia ave was full of water. The water at the end of third was just barely up to where that log house is now. The creek that runs behind Peacher and Hillcrest was FULL and backed up a bit (same creek that goes through clay street park) We had fish in the creek after that and lots of frogs and turtles.....and snakes!

2007 flood was pretty bad some levees broke out by Chirstiansen (sp) addition and it filled up quite a bit. It was clear up the the levees in the back of the houses on Virginia Ave. One house whos back yard is the levve was about 10 feet away from it. If it was like 93 that water would have been over it.

This flood is nothing. We get this every couple years.

1993 was awesome as far as floods go. I skied in it, I swam in it, cought snakes in it and I drank lots of beer in it. At one point, the corps of engineers told us to get out of the water, as it contained a lot of "atrazine". I didn't know what that was, so I drank some of the water. Now I have super powers! Just kidding, but I guess it does cause certain types of cancer. Bad move on my part!!

The worst thing about any of these floods is the after effects. Mainly the smell thast lingers for months. Yuck!!!!!!!!!!1

The flood is truly a shame. Begs some very, very, tough questions regarding the decision to place an Ark where it was never meant to be.

Sad.
