Summer Camp Music Festival 2010

There are 9 comments on the The Daily Illini story from May 27, 2010, titled Summer Camp Music Festival 2010. In it, The Daily Illini reports that:

Not surprisingly, there is no shortage of tie-dye T-shirts worn by the festival's sunburned patrons or of psychedelic tapestries draped over the thousands of tents and the hundreds of RVs on the grounds of Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Ill.

Thanks Three Sisters park two evenings in a row music could be heard in my home with the windows closed at 3am. This has gotton out of hand. When the police were called about the noise I was told Rome and Rome Heights has no noice ordinance so long as a permit is purchased. I would love to see the books on this event to see whose pockets are being lined since this event takes precidence over the saftey and peace of the community and shows no respect for neighbors.

So sketchy. Cops, arrests, meth-creatures, mediocre lineup. I knew I should have hocked my ticket that I bought before the lineup came out.

A Local- it seems to me that summercamp boosts chillicothes economy for the entire year from just 3 to 4 days of music. SO stop bitchin'. Yes there are some sketchy things, 'summercamp sucks' but the real people know it's not about the drugs, it's about the music. and rage-tastic... :)

Summer Camp is an amazing event for Chillicothe and the whole area, it brings thousands of people in to spend millions of dollars into the local economy all in one weekend, more money than is brought into the local economy in any weekend in the entire rest of the year. The people are friendly and just there to enjoy themselves, if you could hear music somehow at 3am you need to get better windows or your radio was on. I was 200 yards away from where the music was happening at 3am every night of the weekend and I couldn't hear anything but happy campers conversing, I had a wonderful (and sober) time. They went way out of their way to make sure late music was indoors and done by that time anyway. The curmudgeons would be complaining about their neighbors breathing too loudly on Saturdays.

I'd have to say I agree with local3. I've never had any problems with the noise. Also I have never taken part in Summer Camp as it's not my scene and over priced in my opinion. Any of the problems that come from it seem to be minimal and well worth the economic boost that it provides. Also many of the kids seem to be pretty relaxed that come into town for it.
I would really like to see them bring another festival here so that there could be going-on's a couple times a year.
