I DONT UNDERSTAND THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT AT CHS IT SEEMS IF YOU DONT HAVE THAT LAST NAME YOU ARE SCREWED AND YOU WANT GET TO PLAY.YOU TRY TO TEACH YOUR KIDS TO WORK HARD AND IT WILL PAY OFF BUT AT CHS IT ISNT LIKE THAT YOU CAN QUIT AND COME RIGHT BACK NO PUNISHMENT YOU ARE STILL A STARTER. I WANT MY KIDS TO BE IN TO SPORTS SO THEY WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO DO IN THIS S*** HOLE OF A TOWN BECAUSE IF YOU DONT HAVE THAT NAME YOU ARE NOT WORTH THERE TIME.I QUESS I SHOULD JUST BUY THEM A LAST NAME THAT MEANS SOMETHING IN THIS TOWN

That's your Varsity coaching staff. There's never any punishment, never any consequences, no rules, and no standards for the kids to be held to. Wouldn't ever let my kids play for Russell or Robinson.

i hate it for my kids because they just dont want to play sports anymore and its something they lik to do. it makes me mad because they practice hard to prove ther self and then dont get the chance and the ones that do goof off in practice.you just dont know what to tell them.

They have already ordered the shoes for the girls JV basketball team and tryouts are not until sometime in nov.????? They ordered shoes for three 8 th grade girls for the JV team! This is proof that they have the team picked before tryouts even start!

Im sure they do. They always do.. but if enough 9th and 10th graders come out they cant be cut for the 8th graders. But sadly thats the problem as well.. kids lose interest in high school

We also have some parents in Chilhowie that would do anything to get their children a spot on a team (even the next team up) even if they can't play worth a lick!!
And by the way, character does not count any more!!! It has everything to do with what can you do for me!!!!!!!!! Chilhowie will always be like this!!

I hope you are right!!! I wish the whole 9th and 10th grade class of girls would try out for basketball!!! Then the three (or two) 8th grade girls that THINK they are better than every other girl in the middle school will not have a chance to play JV; they will have to play 8th grade WHERE THEY BELONG!!!!!

Well about the cutting part we learned last year when 8th grade tried out for softball. The boys were not allowed to because they had enough 9th and 10th graders. Girls were allowed to because the numbers were down. They said if cuts were made it would have to be from the 8th grade girls because you cant give them a spot on a high school team over an upper classman. I wish more of the 9th and 10th grade girls and boys would come out but its just not looking good right now. To many have lost interest or claim they dont like the coach so they would rather not play.I think the worse part with the girls if they come up and start over an upperclassman.
