Glade Spring Life Saving Crew

What was the deal with Ruth "Fannie" Stanley writing a letter to the editor (Bristol Herald) a few weeks back trying to justify the annual trips to the beach? Has there not been enough donations for the truck to roll? Come on, let's get this topic going!!!

Maybe so, but the true topic is still current. The Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads 72nd annual convention doesn't start until September 25th. Glade Spring LSC conducts all kinds of fundraisers on the pretence of purchasing much needed medical equipment and supplies. However, they use these funds to take a vacation to the beach every year. Taking an ambulance out of service along with however many members go along causes emergency calls to go unanswered. Not to mention the misappropriation of funds. People, you better think twice before donating to this bunch.

I'm of the opinion that we're better off without them on the street anyway, I would be terrified if they came to help me. I'd like to see the whole bunch ran off and let washington county take over.

I couldn't agree with you more. The members definitely make for a scary bunch. The last thing I would want to hear in a time of emergency would be dueling banjos.

The funding is there for them the same as the other crews in the county... so why can't they get their act straight?? personnel!! The same inbred bunch has been running rampant in crew trucks AND firetrucks over there for years. What about the boy who rides around in the crew car all night, chasing cars and chasing women??

WHO IS THAT GUY???? I've seen him speeding up and down the road on a nightly basis for several months- going at least 50 mph (on Glade Street) screeching his tires, and coming back through 10 minutes later- certainly hasn't had time to deal with any emergencies- and couldn't stop fast enough to respond anyway, going that fast!!

Who pays for this?
Who owns that vehicle?
Who is that guy?

You, my friend, pay for it with your tax dollars, just like you pay for certin mambers of the crew to take a vacation to Virginia Beach each and every year. It's time a stop was put to this!

OK, I agree that it is time to take a stand- and maybe I am just ignorant here- but who should I tell? The police? That's a joke! I tried to report someone in my neighborhood for selling/using meth. I generally say live and let live- but after my children found used needles, etc. on my property from the meth abusing neighbors, I Had to at least try to stop them. I was basically told that by the Glade police that they would look into it. Over six months later- and the meth heads still remain seemingly untouched- they're up to their same old tricks- I've found more needles, etc...

Should I report the crazy squad car driver to the town council? Ha ha ha- that's even funnier. They let this stuff go on around here, and don't say a word.

I for one am not exactly sure what to do about any of this. I have a family member who is elderly and gets taken to the hospital by the Glade crew- I would Hate for them to get upset with me, and punish my relative for my complaints.

Also- the guy who drives around every night is scary. I'm a single mom with small children. I can't afford to get involved in this- but I would like to know what is going on.

I would appreciate suggestions as to what I should do to "put a stop to this" as VCast suggests. Also- what should I do about the meth heads? Contact Washington co?

With all the corruption going on in the local police departments, I'm really too scared to talk to anyone.

Any ideas why Glade police did not investigate my complaints? Could they be involved with this stuff too?

Another question, where are the Glade Police when the squad car guy zooms through town like he does? Whatever happened to enforcing the law?
