I dont think any charges should be filed! Some cry baby didnt get their way in a lawsuite they filed and so they heard wind of this and it couldnt of made them happier. So they took it to the bristol paper to report on. Yeah giving your son a cell phone may not have been the smart thing to do but I dont think it was done with bad intensions. Send them the bill and get over it. They are good Christian people and would help you in any way they could.

What does a lawsuit have to do with this? He was the head deputy and didn't know the law? If he didn't know the law after 37 years he should have never been a deputy. A fireman or a police officer should set the example not be one. Send them the bill? An officer over at Saltville was charged for something similar. And good christian people are human and make mistakes like we all do. We pay so they should too. Come on that's like the tea bagging incident. Are you saying the kids didn't know better and should have not gotten punished too?

evidently they helped themselves to phones and paid phone bills by the citizens of smyth county without asking. Is that stealing? How/what is something like this going to teach those chs football players with bad behavior to learn to respect others and obey rules and regulations? your brain seems warped and why don't you learn to spell?

Ever notice all those church going people in Chilhowie that are first to point fingers and spread things about people. They think they are ok to judge people because they are in with the good Lord. They've given there $5 on Sunday morning, and now are out to judge.
And unfortunately, I know first-hand, that those two men are very spiteful towards people, and feel the need to bash individuals around town whether it be in the store or the barbershop. The paper isn't out to get a small story. They are angry that young Lewis threatened the reporter with violence.(Which is laughable if you know Matthew). What comes around, goes around, and those two men will now finally know what shame and embarrassment feel like, since they have no problem dishing it out themselves.

it is my business and everybody else's that lives in this county and state and nation. There's lots of good people all over that do good for others, but they don't do what these "good people" did, now there is the difference. I've heard of what they did wrong but I have never heard of anything they did good for anyone else!

Every Law Enforcement Officer, and public official know they have a bulls eye on them when they take the job. They are constantly under public scrutiny. They know this. So if they commit an act that any reasonable person knows is wrong and illegal, they are either stupid or they think they are smart enough to get away with it, and they feel superior for their actions. I feel confident to say Mr. Lewis is not a stupid man.
