We were all looking forward to eating here - this used to be by far the best food within probably a hundred mile radius. I was shocked at how the quality has declined- the new menu absolutely sucks, and the food (what little they give you) is just not that good. I have eaten fru-fru food before, and I don't mind paying a lot for a little; but it better be good, and this was not. As I said, we were all shocked. We drove over an hour to eat here, and as it stands now, I would not eat here again, even if it were right next door.

Our sentiments exactly. Our bill was over $300 for a group of 4 and we were like the Visa commercial afterwards, running to the grocery store for junk food..

You guys do not know what you are talking about. The new menu and the new chefs are amazing. It rivals the very best restaurants in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. The flavor combinations are amazing and the creativity of the dishes is above and beyond. I am so thankful that the place is no longer the standard meat and potatoes.

We had ate at the Town House before and loved it could not wait to go there for dinner last night. It was the worst food I had ever tasted. The new menu was awful. We also drove over an hour to eat there and will not eat there again and will tell anyone that is going there how awful it was. Our bill was $100 plus tip and we left there hungry and went to another local resturant and had a wonderful supper. It is a shame that such wonderful place to eat is so awful now. Hope you made some changes and bring the old menu back because I don't think you will be open much longer with the awful menu you now have. Good luck. Think you are going to need it.

David from Bristol is right! I did New Year's Eve there and it was an amazing experience! The new Town House Grill chefs from Chicago are John B. Shields (former sous chef at Alinea) and Karen Urie (former head pastry chef at Charlie Trotter's). Alinea was Gourmet magazine's number one restaurant in the U.S. in 2006 and Trotter's was number 13. I think it's remarkable that two big city chefs with such talent and credentials have come to this area.

I agree with Devora and David! After the fabulous meal my husband and I had at the Town House Grill tonight, I was shocked to find the negative comments on this board. It makes me wonder if you all actually ate at the same place! I had an appetizer of all different kinds of shellfish with a delicious granny smith apple sorbet, followed by an amazing lamb dish. I used to order lamb at the Town House before they changed chefs, and let me tell you, there is no comparison. The lamb used to be bland and fatty, served with plain potatoes and vegetables. Tonight it was tender and flavorful, with shallots and crumbs of spicebread! And dessert! WOW! Dark chocolate with olive oil ice cream! I can't wait to eat there again. I truly believe it is the finest restaurant around, including cities as far as Charlotte, Roanoke, and Richmond.

If "amazing flavor combinations" means "lots of vinegar" then you are correct. That was the worst "rack of lamb" I have ever had, if you can call five small slivers (one of which was pure fat) a rack. And I don't know about Chicago or San Francisco, but having lived less than an hour outside of Manhattan while attending professional school, I can assure you that this does NOT equal the very best of New York.(As an aside, I will admit that the dessert was excellent). This was perhaps evidenced by the fact that there was virtually no one else in the restaurant on a Friday night. I think they must have sprinkled a little too much mescaline on your squab.

I ate dinner at the Town House about a week ago. I loved it. I visit my girlfriend in Manhattan often and I will take the Town House over Le Bernardin, Daniel and almost every other restaurant. The only thing it doesn't match is Per Se.

We have eaten at Townhouse Grill 3 times since New Years Eve and are amazed at the talent the new chefs have brought. Having stayed at resorts such as The Point, Twin Farms, and Blackberry Farm - this new menu outranks these fine establishments and is by far the most promising prospect for the area. I sincerely hope those posting the negative comments above will come to appreciate the most welcome POSITIVE changes the
Townhouse has undergone and broaden their palate.

WELL I GUESS EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION. YES, I HAVE EATEN AT SOME OF THE FINEST RESTAURANTS IN NY, SAN FRAN, SEATTLE, PARIS, LONDON, ROME, ETC. DOES THIS COMPARE? NO, NOT AT ALL. I AGREE WITH ANB FROM KINGSPORT IF YOU CALL 3 LITTLE SLIVERS OF CHICKEN A WONDERFUL MEAL AND A TEASPOON OF COCONUT ICE CREAM A WONDERFUL DESSERT WHILE PAYING $100 GREAT, THEN KEEP EATING THERE. YOU MUST HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OTHER CUSTOMER IN THE GRILL THE WEEKEND NIGHT WE WERE THERE. AND BY THE WAY, BEFORE THE CHANGE YOU HAD TO HAVE RESERVATIONS AND IT WAS STANDING ROOM ONLY.

your right joe something doesn't smell right...probably your upper lip because the shit coming out of your mouth stinks. anyone who complains about paying 100 bucks for a meal these days obviously has never truly dined and doesn't know the first thing about food.
