I am extremely concerned for mine and my neighbors’ safety due to the gentlemen residing in the half-way house just off of Chilhowie St. Not only was a convicted peeping Tom living there until a short while ago, I know for a fact that two of the men were arrested last week in front of the Roadrunner for intoxication and being belligerent in public. I assumed that would have violated some type of probation that they must meet in order to reside there but only two days later I saw the same fellows walking down Chilhowie St as if nothing happened.
Please don’t think that I am prejudice against people deserving a 2nd chance if they really want help but I think the safety of the surrounding community should be taken into account prior to the offenders rights, especially when they are continually in trouble. These guys were staggering down the middle of Lee Hwy and could have caused an accident or even gotten an innocent person hurt or killed. What if a child had been out playing in their yard when these subjects were walking down the street. Is this something our children should be exposed to in their own backyard???
We, as a community, need to come together and let the Town Council know that we will not tolerate such behavior in our quite neighborhood!!

The Chilhowie City Councel (what a laugh) could give a Rat's Ass about you. They certainly don't care about not tolerating such behavior because look what trash they tolerate from Billy the Horse Hating Boswell.

Well it's a shame that we live in a night quiet neighborhood that SHOULD be safe and yet we have to watch out children outside playing and are afraid to walk from our cars to our houses after dark. According to Boswell and Henniger these guys are harmless. They didn't seem so harmless to me when they were being arrested last week.

Does anyone have any further info on this place? I'd like to know my neighborhood and home are safe.

Well, I understand how you feel, I feel the same about people who commit serious crimes (murder, rape, molestation, assault, etc.) But seriously, public intox? First off I don't see how that should even be a crime, to be inebriated in public, everyone should have the right to do with their body as the wish(granted they don't harm others). And secondly, just because they've been arrested for minor crimes of that nature, doesn't mean they're going to do something horrible to your children or you (maybe just puke on your lawn). And lastly, statistics show that the mostly likely people to abuse children are actually the child's family and more specifically mothers acting alone (roughly accounting for 48% of child abuse).
Here's the link to the statistics from the U.S. Department of Health and Human services:

So it's ok for someone to stagger around town, harrass people that drive by and, as you put it, puke on my lawn. No, it isn't. I shouldn't have to be exposed to that and neither should my children. I have nothing against people that are truly trying to get help but I see these guys walking back from Food City all the time carrying a case of beer. That shouldn't even be allowed where they live and I have to ask if the tax payers are supporting their habit because it doesn't appear that they are working anywhere.

I am not saying that it is all right to have someone puke on your lawn or harass you. What i'm saying is that I think you are blowing it a little out of proportion. And i'm also saying that you don't really have the right to tell others what to do or what to do on certain land, when it is not on your property. Someone walking in the middle of the road harassing drivers, is a safety issue, and that particular person should be stopped, but the others doing you no harm. Also, I sometimes walk down roads at night, enjoying the stars, but I'm also able to get out of the road when a car is coming. So, I'd say if they get out of the road at the right time, it's not a big deal, otherwise it is.

why don't you offer to volunteer and do some good for them, instead of putting everyone down? to be of service to others is being of service to God. Understand?

maybe those men at the halfway house would be more polite if they had good neighbors, too. give them a chance! what is this world coming to? it sure doesn't sound like a very nice neighborhood if others are not welcome, only those hand picked by concerned & whomever agrees with concerned. MOVE but don't go to another nice neighborhood and start something.

first of all, do you want everyone to know what you are bringing home from the store? maybe you will need help someday, go ask concerned for help. by what everyone is expressing over this situation, I wouldn't want to live in your neck of the woods. that means near you and concerned.
