I will no longer be watching the Channel 12 news at 11:00 PM. I loved Kelli. I will switch to Channel 7. Your watchers get used to certain personalities & sometimes that's the only reason they watch a particular channel. I can't believe you let them both go, why not just one? Sorry Kelli & I wish you the best

They will be missed... As for some saying that they do not control their boys... that is bunk...We were in Logans and the couple came in with their boys.. They smiled at people who recognized them and Ms. Saam prodded her boys forward to their table.. Very respectful..

This station has a reputation in the industry as being a haven for the mediocre, and their careers are better off by moving to a bigger market. Both of them are good enough for Seattle or San Fransisco, and they should go for larger markets. Kelli really is too good for Chico, this is a step up for them. Although this "transition" is harsh and sudden, it is an opportunity to get away from the amateur producing of that station and get into a station that will resonate their level of skill.
that station made them look bad. Best future for you both, there are greener fields elsewhere, forget about this dumpy little station.

Kelly was way better than Kira. Like they say, "you get what you pay for". Claremont has decided to go the cheap way.

Between Kira and Kelly, who would you rather?

No question about it. Kira is smoking hot! She is good on the air and she's hot to look at.

Obviously, you living down where Kira came from, you have never seen Kelly in person. She is a Very attractive woman, Jerry is a lucky man.

Been wondering where my favorite Kelli Saam is, hoped she was on vacation, but guess, it is permanent, so sorry, she was great. Do not like the new anchor. Guess I'll have to go to channel 7 , Redding. Sorry for the change.

Sorry to break it to you all who thought the Olenyns were "committed to raising their family here." Both Kelli and Jerry have had an agent while working in Chico. An agent is someone who helps you look for jobs. Also, their resume tapes have been posted on YouTube for quite some time now, loooong before they were let go from KHSL. Resume tapes are samples of anchoring/reporting work sent around to TV stations, basically as applications for jobs. So much for wanting to stay in Chico.

I've missed Jerry and Kelli for awhile now but did not know what happened to them.
I really enjoyed Kelli's reporting as she always seemed so energetic and seemed to enjoy her job as did Jerry and I looked forward to Jerry's viewers comments---which I will miss.
Being they were a couple and family in Chico made me feel more connected to them.
I guess I can get the news from the "other" news station in Redding.
I wish them well and hope they get good jobs and stay local...hey maybe they will get jobs with the "other" Redding newstation,

I am sooooo glad not to have to hear Jerry whine and talk so loud in that Sportscaster voice when delivering news. I hated his biased opinionated way he skewed the emails to his opinion by his voice inflection. I bet there is more to this story and the company had to have a lot of backing to fire both of them....
All the critics should have to walk a mile in the shoes of company before they make their subjective uninformed comments.
I too have met this couple... they haven't bought a home and only became vocal & participated in events when their contracts were almost up. They never did much to represent the company until recently. Where were they the past 4 years.I've been to charity events where they show up and leave early... They didn't take time to mingle or contribute to the cause when they did attend.
Other than the snotty comments from Jerry he didn't seem to care what people think of him. Being personable is not an easy thing to maintain but easy when you want to appear good for a short period of time.
I agree. They both act so superior to others, life is a joke (ha ha) yet their deliveries were childish and subjective. I do not wish bad to others often, but I'm glad to see them go. Maybe they'll learn that life isn't so funny, bad things do happen to people and quit making fun of things you must not understand. In short GROW UP!!!

Doesn't everyone have an agent? That means nothing.

"That means nothing?" It does to me.

I don't have an agent. I don't know anyone who does. Of course, no one I know is trying to convince me that they are "local" while hawking themselves all over the country to the highest bidder.
Having an agent is not the problem. Wanting a better job is just fine with me. It's the pretense that their priority is to stay in the area, and somehow they must be accomodated.

It is clear to me that Olenyn wanted it all: A higher paycheck, the option to continually insult people on air, and to do very little creatively. I hope he gets what he wants - somewhere else.

Many on this thread seem to think that these two are exceptionally talented and are in high demand. I hope that is true, and that they have successful careers - elsewhere.

I continue to enjoy the convivial and less contentious KNVN/KHSL news show, and I hope that those hard core Olenyn supporters are getting comfortable with Mike Mangus and crew.

To each his own.

I agree...I cannot stand Megan McDon with her cheshire smirk plastered to her face. She looks old, haggered and is flat in her delivery. She is awful and she is still there. Cort K is also not someone who impresses. Either does Charity and the list goes on...Catamount screws over good people. Remember Royal Courtain? They hire inexperienced college kids who do a terrible job. Then they get ppl who can actually do their jobs and they don't want to pay them. I won't watch local news anymore. It is my only way to protest Catamount's greed and poor decision making.
<quoted text>
Royal Courtain was hired directly upon graduating college. Definitely not a season "professional". That guy was a jackass.

Came back from vacation to find our two favorite anchors gone. Presto-chango. BIG mistake KHSL. We met Kelli and Jerry at the Redding Convention Center a few months ago and were very impressed with their friendliness and approachability. We cannot believe KHSL let two such talented people go. Kelli was a true joy to watch and listen to. Her bright, intelligent news presentation made the even the not-so-good-news news so much more interesting and enjoyable to watch. Good luck you two and God bless. KHSL, maybe it's time to rethink your decision. In the meantime, we'll be changing our news channel.

I miss both Kelli and Jerry and don't watch the channel 12/24 news nearly as much since they are gone, frankly I don't care much for Kelli's replacement.
