Well done Herrera, way to spend taxpayers money on sending police to deal with you and your feelings for "Mother Nature"! Bravo! Now the taxpayers are going to have to spend more money for the DA's office and for your public defender. What about the work crew that had to stop working because of your non-sense? Hope the business owner sues you for loss time.
So I take it you do not like the American Freedoms that most of us are proud of very much?

Did you see the videos on the City's Couplet webpage?
It looks like they are going to raze the entire downtown - buildings and all - for the project!
I sat through all of those charettes, and those bastards never mentioned this!
Just further proof that the engineers won't rest until their perverse vision of total pave-over is realized! I didn't see a parking structure on the video though - I guess that if the downtown is razed, nobody will need to park there...
Between Julia 'Butterfly' Hererra and Mark 'Don't Park' Stemen, we've got Second Street covered, but who is on Third?
Thanks for the links. They confirmed my theory of how stupid this idea truly is.

It is a shame that the tree had to come down. At the same time, the intesection did need to be reconfigured for pedestrians, bicylces and autos.

Mr. Herrera was exercising his rights to free speech. And of course, once he crossed the line, he had the right to be arrested. Our founding fathers talked about rights with corresponding responsiblities.

In terms of being a Commissioner, he certainly does not know the street tree ordinance he is responsible to uphold. It is a violation to attach any object to a tree. The ordinance does not set a threshold, all attachments are prohibited.

If they plant Yarwood sycamores, the trees will be 50 feet tall in 10 years.

My hat is off to this fellow Mark. Just as it is for Joel Castle. They are men, real men, men who do not seem to be circumcised by government and its liberal sheepish politics!
Go Mark!
What??? You must be going nuts? Castle and Mark (hippie at best) are at the top of the liberal spectrum!!!! Don't even try and say they are from the right. They are just victim of their own way of government.

Actually, I have defended our great nation in peace time and in war. It's a pleasure to know that my efforts weren't wasted and that Herrera can enjoy the freedom to disobey a lawful order and then be arrested instead of being shot and killed like other countries do. Now, let's get on with the new traffic pattern so that we can enjoy the freedom of having less congested traffic. Have a swell day!

Fewer cars on the road would accomplish the same thing and save Mark's children and grandchildren.
Chico already has already tried to limit the amount of cars by purposely creating a "D" rated traffic flow pattern. How has that worked out in getting cars off the road? If you truly wanted to save the environment, then riding the streets of stop and go traffic, with round a bouts, would significantly help reduce car emmisions.
