Lotsa luck with that. Public employees in Calif.do not ever "give" up anything.....they just take.
One way to save some of these critical city positions is for all employees to agree to changes to salaries and benefits. Government benefits far exceed most private-sector jobs. If employees pick up more of their insurance costs, agree to less lavish pension plans, accept caps on vacation and sick time that can be accrued, and limit overtime, the city would save enough money to preserve some jobs.

We assume that's all happening in closed-door negotiations with the city's many unions, but knowing how those sessions go, we'd bet progress is fleeting.

We hope everybody at city hall realizes they have it pretty darn good, both in terms of salary and benefits, and that if they agree to cuts in each area, they'd still have it pretty good and they'd have more co-workers in the building.

I agree to deduct 10% from the City Mgr. and Asst. City Mgr. salaries to save one job for the Bidwell Park worker who cleans up after the homeless.

The city that I work in, us employees? We gave up 8% wages, and went to lower insurance plans to keep all employed. Five years ago.

But not the City Manager, he got a $2000.00 a year raise, on already six digits, a car, and a gas card too.
That was really good for employee moral.
ya sure

Open up the process....sunshine the negotiations if you are so willing to help.....instead of doing your dirty business behind closed doors.
The public might assist you in getting what you deserve.

Lots of talk about "giving up" things.....but there is no proof.....just propaganda.
The public unions should agree to open up the negotiating process in order to see whom is lying.
What are they afraid of?
perhaps the press/public can help the employees to get what they deserve.

But no......we get lying and whining from employees.......while the dirty back room closed process continues.
By law, the council may not dicuss this back room closed process publically......because the public unions will not allow it.

Prove that you gave up anything. You can't or won't.
Open up(sunshine) the negotiation process so everyone knows whom is lying.

and btw, is "good morale" also guaranteed in your contract now?
Good moral is a matter of personal attitude and integrity that transfers into a group setting. Whiners will never have a good attitude.
