What's wrong with this picture....billions of dollars spent a month in Iraq while we gut teachers and programs that are good for kids!!! While the President in the State of the Union praised the rebuliding of schools and infrastructure in Iraq....Hold the Republicans Responsible!!!

I just read about Thomas Barbera. CHP reports that it is essentially his fault. It is never the fault of the person merging. The person in the #3 lane must be ready for such an incident (blind spot) or little old lady merging slowly. Improper CHP commment! He was hit for heavens sake. On site ER waited how long? before decision to put him in an ambulance? Why was not the helio not available? This person could have survived! These are questions for brave reporters! Get after it.

If someone can't stop from hitting a White Van after he passes a 'Merge' sign in the middle of the sunny day, then he/she was speeding and/or not paying atention. Or speeding up to get a head of a merging car (in which a person later died). I hope the CHP does the right thing.

You should get your facts correct before slinging mud. The man killed made a left turn onto a highway in front of a vehicle traveling about 65 mph and was hit in the drivers side door. The first people on the scene were non-medical and called 911. The first CHP and fire personnel on the scene called for helicopter transport but it was not available so an ambulance was used. The scene of the accident is over 12 miles from the trauma center. These emergency personnel do an excellent job considering the circumstances. This is a rural area and you cannot expect instant service in an emergency.

unless you were on the scene or know Tom which I do dont debate whose fault it is or not. this was a horrible accident that took the life of a great man who was a father and a friend. and the fact that it ws in a rual area has nothing to do with the fact that the necessary procedures were not done and it cost a man his life. people in forest ranch pay tax dollars like everyone else and deserve the same medical attention as those in chico.
