Illinois Governor Recall Amendment

A "YES" vote would allow voters to recall the governor and require that at least 20 state representatives and 10 state senators, equally balanced from each party in each chamber, sign a notice of intent to recall the governor before a petition can begin to be circulated.

How will you vote on November 2nd?

What would a NO vote mean?

Doesn't the United States Constitution give us the right to petition?

Would this Amendment put limits to that right?

I would hope it would make it easier to get rid of a corrupt govenor. By having an equal number of reps and senators from both the lame major parties, it would make the petition be more meaningful whereas a petition started by citizens, though meaningful, might not have the backing of the legislators. At least that is how I read it.

The way I read it, we would have to have their permission to petition.

And it would take an equal number from both parties agreeing in order to do so.

Bet they figure we're too dumb to realize that would never happen.

I'm also going to vote NO. If the president of the US is impeached, the vice president is automatically made the president. So why in the heck can't the Lieutenant Governor be the automatic governor? No need for a multi-million$ special election to choose another governor.

But the parties live on. And the rich stay rich. I was really hoping the Green party could get a foothold in my prime years. Voted for them every time. Now I'll vote for the Tea party.

I judge politicians by the amount of sexual impropriety they engage in despite the absolute power and money they control. Its kinda of a foundational thing. Back in my formative years Bill Clinton was getting a blow job while on the phone to Newt Gingrich who was trolling the streets of DC for a new for a new ex wife! And Don't Get me started about the dynamic duo of Al Gore and John Edwards.

Never have i been so needed as in here.
Truly i am the voice of reason.( or BS )
There's several points that should also be noted.

1 ) Money. Nothing is ever done for free. You start removing someone from office and legal cost go through the roof. Look at the cost to put George Ryan away. And now we're going to re try Blago for a cost we can't afford. And for what ? He's out of office. He is going to jail due to the one count. He will never hold office again. Do we really honestly want to keep spending money to indict these guys ?

2 ) We already do remove bad apples. Look how fast Blago got booted out.

3 ) It doesn't always solve the problem. Pat Quinn nuff said

4 ) Everyone thought Watergate was great. Yeah go after a bad president. Now every president faces that BS from the other side. Do we really want that circus with governors too ?

5 ) Time. Even if we say yeah lets go get him by the time we get it going his term is almost up anyway. George Ryan perfect example. By the time everything started to move he was out of office.

What we need to do is to stop electing these clowns each time. Illinois is the laughing stock of the country. And now Chicago will elect another Democrat for mayor. An Obama lackey.

Ryan was a republican and Rod was a democrat and it don't matter who you vote for.
The whole politcal system in this state is corrupt whether it is on the State level, County level or even the town you live in.
These people are as all crooked as a snake.
This State is famous for dirty politicians.

Sure !!!! Blame Quinn for all the past thieving governors mistakes -- it's the chickenshit thing to do...No i'm not a Quinn supporter,,but i do think that all elected officials should be limited to a one time four year term..Then that's it ..Neither party should have full control .. Ever..

Professional politicians are part of the problem not the solution. Let your representatives know you want & demand term limits !
