Just what is needed, more cowards with guns. All this would do is let untrained yahoos put other people in danger.

Thank god there is a camera every few feet in this city! They do a wonderful job of reducing crime. And thank GOD there is a handgun ban so that things like this cannot happen. If only little dick would outlaw robbery, we would be all set for the olympics! I raise my cigar in one had, some foie gras in the other to to this world-class hell hole....

Right, because Chicago is the only city where bad things happen.

pretty poorly executed heists .... even if all three are connected, the guys pulling the jobs suck. haven't they watched Heat? you need a team of calculated individuals, not a bunch of douchebags running around with .22s.

I find it interesting that the Tribune NEVER describes the robbers. Must be Santa Claus, right? Or maybe a 87 year old grandmother. NOT. Anyone that would rob a bank for $20 is certifiably clueless, stupid, and idiotic. A year for each dollar is the penalty.

"Not Impresse(d) by Bravado" is absolutely right. The LAST thing any city needs is more guns, not to mention people carrying them with the intent of vigilanteeism (sp?).

Chase has been robbing people for years by leading the charge on raising ATM fees.

Also, I'm a whole lot more frightened of some meat-headed vigilante shooting up the place in an attempt to foil a bank robbery than I am of actually being shot by the theives themselves.

To the psycho asking for conceal and carry now, if ever you see me getting stuck up, leave the situation alone. I'd much prefer to lose a wallet than be shot by either you or the theif.

I'm 6', white and live in Bucktown.

I agree with Not Impresse by Bravado, Get out of Chicago Carl... and Clyde.

Incidentally, I read a Southtown news piece about 3 armed gunmen robbing 3 youths in Homewood, IL the other day. No description of the perps. The Village of Homewood, however, sent a neighborhood alert to those who subscribe to these alerts that the gunmen were black males. Their approx age, height, weight, description of clothing (baggy black jeans and oversized white t-shirts, all three of them) were provided as well. Why can't the paper include this information? It's a question I've asked the Southtown reporters... they have yet to respond.

Robbing the robberes is not crime. Banks rip peoples off all time becuse of fees and stuff like that all the time. Its redickulous. These so called robbers should get a medal. They probbly just getting revenge from all the fees. I dont care if all bank get robbed. they are covered by fdic anyways

It's a valid point that if the city cannot keep people safe, citizens should be allowed to protect themselves.

I know saying "where were the police" will rightfully bring the response that they cannot be everywhere, and they do a tough job, but I jog and live in the south loop and and I see numerous police sitting around reading the paper or resting in their cars in various out of the way parking lots or parks areas. Maybe they are rightfully on break; and I do appreciate seeing the officers when I jog (even if they are reading the sports), but the police need to be more visible and get out of their cars.
