Great idea. You both get together to enjoy your cancer sticks...with any luck, 15 feet will place you in the middle of a busy street. Just keep your disgusting smoke away from our kids!

This is common sense. Smoke and kids should never be considered an acceptable mix. 15 feet is sill not good enough, but it's better than what it was.

5 points each, and if bus hits you, it's 10! Who else wants to watch the wretched addicts with their disgustingly pervasive habits go splat, leaving only remnants of their last puff rise to the heavens for the last time? One less selfish bottom feeder (two, in this case) to thin the heard. Keep your habit to your own house where you infect only yourselves (I hope)!!! You don't deserve fresh air, because you pollute MINE.

Now if they'd only ban smokers from all outside areas within 200 feet of any entrance to any inhabited building, and the city would be gloriously smoke free for the rest of us who have a desire to live, who desires a back yard free of drifting cancer from the idiots down the block, etc.

Let's expand this new ban!!!

Smitty, better stay inside. Don't use your grill, do not drive, you are polluting my air.
Shut down all factory's !!! Stop the presses!
Lets shut down, anything that pollutes the air, and go backwards to a safer time....

I have not driven in 15 years. I choose to live downtown to walk to work every day so that I can live what I preach...I don't own a grill because that smoke is toxic, and I don't buy printed materials because everything can be found on-line, thus making print obsolete.

There are very few more important things in this world than a person's right to smoke-free air.

The sky is NOT falling...but the smoker's rights to contaminate the rest of us IS. REJOICE!

You can witness drug dealing & gangbangers in these parks, but god forbid, you light up a cigarette & they'll fine you $500 !!!
Something is really wrong here. What's next ??

Hopefully Lincoln Park Zoo officials will take the hint and ban smoking in and around the Zoo, not only for the children but for all the animals.

This ban has nothing to do with children or the health of bistanders while outside. You would have to be the most ignorant of the naive to believe that. It has to do with the Chicago liberals wanting to control everything you do. They don't think you should smoke so they're going to keep making more and more laws to control how, when and where you can and can't do it. The problem is we keep taking it or move somewhere where we can actually retrieve our freedom.

I have never hated Chicago more than this past year. Tax everyone and everything to death and ban freedom after freedom.

By the way, this instigator "Smitty" is the reason things are the way they are...one of the obedient sheople who will give up anything to go along with what the government has brainwashed him into thinking. Smitty, I hate you and your poeple for being so completely ignorant.

You guys can have your silly little bans and new taxes. Come next spring, I'm outta here. No more nanny for me telling me what I can and can not do. Chicago is moving in a really bad direction and people should be getting fed up instead of trying to decide if smoke is going to harm the animals at LPZ. Poor, poor smitty. He just doesn't get it.

One more thing, think of all the money that will get spent on new signs and the amount of time spent by city employess installing them. Your money is being well spent.

Maybe they should not ban smoking. If smokers lived longer, the earth would be overpopulated quicker, and I might run out of things to do.

Seriously? I don't think zoo patrons smoking is going to do anything worse for the animals than being kept in the middle of a major metropolitan area.

Adios Steve, don't know if you've looked around but most of the U.S. is smoke free and growing everyday. You need to buy your own Island and do what you want. A recent poll said over 70% of the population is happy with the smoking restrictions. Remember when Alcohol had no rules or restrictions? Then over the years they slowly started making changes that helped people and saved lives. Same with smoking today, restrictions are taking effect to protect workers and patrons of business'. No one is BANNING anything, just restricting it's use. I for one enjoy rules, codes and laws, it makes my life better. Try Voting, that's how your voice is heard, mine was!!!

It's the cigarette butt chucking chuckers, chucking their cigarette butts that cause the problems. Ban smoking and you get rid of the cigarette butt chucking chuckers, who are always chucking cigarette butts.

We know the smoke is bad for humans. We know we have to help our children grow up without smoke in their faces.

Does that have any meaning?

You can't run away from the smell and putting them all together in a small area doesn't do it, either. Gadzooks did you ever walk through an area outside a College where they congregate to smoke. POOH!

The only person to blame for the ban is the smoker themselves. If these lazy sob's would pick up their butts instead of leaving them on the beach, they could smoke their little brains out all they want.

Whenever someone says they are doing something "for the children" you can bet there's some self-serving purpose to it.
