Ex-Detroit Mayor Kilpatrick to wear tether for failing to disclose $2K gift

Detroit -- Kwame Kilpatrick was fitted with a GPS tether Thursday, barred from traveling to see his family in Texas and placed on home confinement -- punishment for failing to disclose a $2,000 gift from a Chicago pastor.

The pastor may not really be religious for one thing. He may be running a business. And the thing he has in common with Kwame is his blackness. Kwame asked for the gift based upon his fighting the white man who he said was stalking him. The pastor bought into this racism. The letter he sent in conjunction with the gift said exactly this.

PS. Kwame took or directed the flow of millions of dollars while he was mayor. He spread it around the country, not just Detroit. He tried to own the Detroit based churches by donating city property to those churches that supported him and denying those who failed in support. Who knows whether any money ended up in Chicago?

The mayor and his attorney act quite blasé or even upbeat about beating any charges of failure to disclose money received. They keep calling it "gifts for the family." MDOC keeps saying gifts were to be included and declared. Meanwhile, they find another $4,000 unreported gift. Kwame has two years handing just on this potential parole violation. Let's see some action.

The guy needs mental evaluation and should be found innocent by reason of insanity, he's not at all normal and acts as if business is just business only in Kwames way wondering what's wrong with that, it's his own thinking about what he sees as ethical.

He doesn't really know how twisted his mind really is, so then maybe we should only feel sorry for him and offer him treatment and allow him his freedom then go back home to be with his loving family ?

Kwame still has support in the black community, which is most of Detroit. Their sense is that when big companies(or white folk) negotiate contracts, there's always a carrying cost for extras like PR, gratuities and accommodations. They feel that what Kwame did was nothing more than get his piece of the action, which was due justice after 400 years of enslavement.
