We saw a Boxer take off running and some people tried to catch up with it but they haven't come back yet... So if you're in the area and see a Boxer on the loose, this is where he came from. Hope everyone and their pets are ok!!!!

I live a few blocks away from the fire, and saw smoke coming from that area as I went to walk my dogs. I called 911, but the FD had already arrived.

One thing not mentioned in the story: as the firemen were busy trying to contain the flames, a medium-light brown boxer came tearing down Ravenswood and turned eastbound down Melrose. Apparently after asking a few questions, it turned out that the dog is named Sophie, and she lives on the first floor of the building that was on fire. Many of us tried to comb the neighborhood looking for Sophie, but to no avail.

I spoke to a police officer who said they were aware of the situation, but given the time frame and the dog's speed (probably about 15-20 mph) she could have been as far as the lakefront.

If anyone sees a dog resembling Sophie's description, please contact 311 or Animal Control.

Sophie came back to us later in the evening! A fabulous boy and his family found her and took great care of her. They all drove over to return her to us - safe and sound!
Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word about our Sophie and special thanks to the family who found her.

Dear homeowners,
Watch out for the ambulance chasing board-up companies. They will try to Parley the board-up into a fire repair job. The one that’s owned by the construction company in this link ended up burning down the house again.

This Metro Company’s subcontractor carelessly set this house on fire a second time… Talk about being burned!!
Don't get burned twice like this poor family did!!
