Actually this is yet another reason to LOVE Chicago. All you close-minded, right-winged, paranoid, isolationist haters make me sad. If you don't like it here, please, feel free to go live somewhere else. This is America and it's your right!
The only way a city (or state or country) can grow in all the good ways civilization will allow, is to spend some money, take some risks, and do what needs to be done to enlarge the lives of its citizens.
I love Chicago for what she was, for what she is and for all her potential; all you nay-sayers notwithstanding.
People like you are so naive and superficial. Building a bunch of new crap like this, before fixing the problems that already exist (potholes, crime, current CTA issues, public schools, vacant buildings, etc.), is unconscionable. You don't really want to see the city improve-- you just want it to have some new flashy "stuff" that improves the city's image on the national scale. You are supporting "putting a band aid on a broken leg."

Well then maybe you should stay in Des Plaines where cultural experience means your pancakes come on a choo choo.

I can see how you would appreciate that.

I've been to Des Plaines MAYBE once in my life (is that in IL?)--but now that I know they have pancakes on a "choo choo," I'll be sure to make it there more often. You should know by now that one's location does not always reflect their true location.

The pancakes on the choo choo really are tasty. I hope when you eat them your location really matches your location.

Imagine the mess otherwise.

Be safe wherever you are.
