There is also a Hazordous Materials Incident response (Level 1 Haz Mat) at the scene due to the tractor trailer leaking fuel.

I was on a Metra train and saw the aftermath of this terrible accident when we passed through Chinatown - I can't believe more people weren't killed. While I love humor, I'm disgusted by some of the insensitive comments posted here. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

I just have to wonder- drunk, stoned, sleepy, stupid, or angry? What's his excuse?

Gos bless the dead and injured, and their loved ones- jsut trying to go home after work, and this is what they get.

God bless the dead. Maybe the driver had a seizure, tired and overworked who knows. Let's not be too quick to blame, the truth will come out. It is a tragedy.

Ponygurl, you're right- we need to hear what happened. One way or another, he'll have to live with this, I can't imagine what that'll be like.

Driver refused a urine test and was witnessed coming of the x-way at 40-50 mph. According to the news and witnesses anyway.

This was bond to happen. The way the expressway was built. a sharp turn right before the light there and you have to slow down considerably to make, and then theres a quite a ways to the light. Also the bus stop was not directly across from the highway exit, its to the right, so if he went straight he would have hit nothing but a small driveway used by the CTA and then a fence followed by some parked cars. The fact that he was in control for the sharp left turn turn and then swerve right to hit the bus stop dead on and into the escalators is very suspcious to say the least. Also the quote from the lady saying the lights change very fast is obsurdly incorrect. the lights there are pretty long.

let me see you jackandapes drive a 18 wheeler they are not as easy as you think loaded ..
everybody needs to wait for the investigation.
The driver was cleared of any drugs or narcotics in his system, so he may have been cut off we can point the blame all day long but is that fair to the dead..........

Glad to see everyone jump to conclusions. Let the police do there job. I have driven for that same company for three years but left a few years ago. It was company policy to be safe. unless things changed since leaving you were not made to run without hours or told to make a delivery without the time to do it safly. Time will show what happend. Prey for the familes involved.
