If Illinois had concealed carry and those women had a choice if they wanted to carry a pistol, they may not have been as injured as they were.

When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

Awful crime no doubt. Women are the victims of violent crime like this all the time. This leads to a question: Why are so few of them interested in learning self defense? How many thousands of other women each year die or get seriously injured from brutal crimes because they get overpowered?

"Concealed carry" is kind of hit or miss, because the perpetrator is often able to wrestle the gun away from them and use it against them. Though for a woman who doesn't know self defense it's a better option than being unarmed.

They got hit from behind. I don't think a gun would of save them .....so sad my prayer are with them and their families......hang in there.

They were BOTH hit from behind?

Anyway, I agree with the rest of your post. Hopefully they'll pull through this.

Actually, if you read news reports, the American girl came to the aid of the Irish girl who was attacked first. If the American girl had a pistol, she could have ended it right there.

I stand by my words

Yeah, two girls getting hit from behind didn't sound right. If the American girl had a pistol, she might have been able to end it.

But if she knew self defense or a Martial Art she could have saved BOTH of their lives without the risk of her gun getting wrestled away from her.
