This will likely lead to more violence in this neighborhood. Makes me regret more and more that I purchased a home in this supposed "up & coming" area...Unfortunately, Albany Park seems to be "ruled" by an aldermanic offense that is ineffectual and oftentimes unresponsive and "protected" by the 17th precinct that is entirely undermanned...

Wonder if there will be follow up showing the youth's mother stating that he/she was never involved in gangs and was a wonderful child...all while holding up an 8th grade graduation picture...

This neighborhood is far from safe. Ive been here over 30 years and one of my classmates was shot right in the same place as Agusto. The shootings and killings here never seem to make the news, like last weeks gunfire on Montrose.

It's sad that there is talk like this. We can not hope to live in perfect places. There is goodness and violence everywhere. I embraced this wonderful neighborhood in 1998 when I moved in with my wife who's lived here since 1988. I've mourned every child that's died on these streets. Every front yard's tended flower, every young child's smiling face here reflects the hope of our own future. If you've bought here, then come out and see and meet the living in this neighborhood. Volunteer at a community center or offer your help serving the homeless at a local church. It's worth so much more than simply wanting your property values to go up. Isn't it?

with all the best,- Paul

venom is annoying. we're just concerned for our neighborhoods. Shootings (especially when a teen is shot) are serious and discussing them should be a positive trend toward curbing violence. Venom is exactly that...Poison. If you don't want to discuss violence on our streets and the increasing danger for our children, go back to the rough neighborhood where people don't "complain about a couple shootings". Show some pride and concern for our neighborhoods please--and don't call your neighbors annoying when they care.

With all these kids wanting to live the ghetto lifestyle what do you expect? Ever see those kids at their school dances? They all dress and act like those ghetto thugs like "50Cent" or "LLCoolJ". Play the ghetto life, die the ghetto life. I've seen these suburban kids throwing up gang signs. But if you ask them what their about they say, "Huh"?

This is a sub culture of thugism in our society. It transcends sociopolitical boundaries. They need to realize, you live by the sword you die by the sword. Save compassion for those who didn't make a conscious decision to put themselves in harms way.

Where are these kids getting the guns? How about punishing the ones who buy these guns?(The straw buyers) or the negligent gun owners who fail to secure their weapons (Heavy safe). Don't blame the burglar.

No, let's not blame those that steal the weapon, let's blame the person who's house they broke into and stole from. That makes so much since. You are the exact reason that our youth thinks they can get away with murder, just point the finger somewhere else.

If the owner did not secure his weapon properly then he should be held liable.

the gangs of today is all about drug sales, many of the high schools have pushed the big gangs out, and what starting is a hole new group of gangs of young people looking to get in on the action, and its just going to be a power struggle of people killed, don't blame the lawful gun owners
