Oilfield seems to be in trouble around here. Anyone feeling the slowdown?? Keep hearing about rigs going down. Where are all the laid off rig workers going to work at? I sure hope Romney gets elected so the oil and gas industry will pick back up. I know our community thrives on this industry. We may all be in trouble if it slows down even more.

It's true! Don't kid yourself. Drilling has slowed a bit. Very little is being spent on gas production. Most existing well that aren't producing larger amounts of oil are being shut in. Hopefully this will help curb the supply a bit, so we can drive cost back up. I myself will be hoping for record low temps this winter. Come on America, burn that natural gas!

The oilfield always has peaks and valleys. It's not uncommon for it to slow down around this time of year and it almost always slows down in an election year.

I'm a sahm. My hubby works in safety on oilfield locations. He can work 8-5, M-F in the office, but the H2S locations are where he makes money. Now I'm going back to work at a daycare so I can take my daughter there for half price.

It's election year and last quarter so it has slowed down more than usual for the last quarter but like stated above budgets reset and the new year will begin. One of the reasons it's slowing here is because of the Bakken and Eagleford. Companies have investments in those plays and are not necessarily dropping their rigs here but moving them or finishing their contracts with them and picking up other contracts in those plays to develop or stake their claims. They will be back after drilling some exploration wells on what they own in other fields. You can't put all your eggs in one basket or the colony wash. There will always be activity here it's just right now people are trying to up their capital and keep their companies ahead for the hard times. If your a good hand you'll work and most likely if your company is moving to another play than you will be going there also!!

It's as busy as ever!!!! Record year myself. And it's not letting up. Instead of sitting around with companies that aren't working. Find ones that are!!!! They probably aren't busy for a reason.

My hubby has also been very busy! Back to back jobs. A week on one job, rig down and immediately drive to other location to rig up. Not slow at all go us.

There is NO slowdown in the area oilfield - there may be a slow company, but the slowness is not oilield related.

There is a slow down in education at the school district due to teachers SEXting and whining about the oilfield!
