C'mon erick poster, post something relevant to the conversation!

Superintendent Base Salaries in our area

$115,000 Elk City
102,348 Clinton
99,200 Weatherford
110,411 Woodward
101,489 Anadarko
115,519 Elgin

It would be interesting to see what the perks consist of and the dollar value there of.

The salary itself is not out of line with comparable sized local schools. My problem lies in giving the $10,000 raise in what has been portrayed OVER AND OVER again by this superintendant as such an austere time. No money for this, no money for that, everything needs fixing, cut here, cut there, need a bond issue, etc..

This action by the school board is a slap in the face to school patrons, taxpayers, and school employees

AND

DEMONSTRATES A TOTAL LACK OF COMMON SENSE AND lack of feel for the political climate of such a move

Amen. I wish parents would unite and bombard the school board meetings in great numbers to express their antipathy for the decisions made by our nazi like school board. Issues including lack of technology, uniforms and unwise use of funds.

It doesn't do any good. They don't care what the parents think. They made it clear when they didn't put uniforms to a vote before implementing and just ignored the parents that did speak up. I'm ready to get out of this town so my kids don't have to endure this district any longer. I graduated from ECHS, but it's not what it was then.

This is not a "sport administration". These administrators are former special Ed teachers who don't care much about sports at all.
I'd just start at the top.

I believe it's time to ask for all of our board members and superintendent to resign!

They have done nothing for our schools in over ten years!

We need to step up as a community and get the ball rolling to get them out!

Davis Lamar is at least on our side! Billy Seizmore was asked why he voted for Buddy Wood"s pay raise and he replied that he was unsure of how the process worked! What kind of answer is that? The bobble heads need to go!

Stand up for what's right! Elk Citians deserve a lot better!

My wife is a school teacher and her check was less due to increases in medicare.

Superintendent Buddy Wood got paid today and he saw a 9.8% increase in his salary!

Does anyone see a problem here!

That extra $10,000 should have gone to the teachers to help supplement the loss to medicare.

Sorry, the administration is more important! They are the ones teaching our future generation!

What a joke! The board and administration needs to be fired!

Topix posters are not all fools. The intelligent comments made on topix get lost in the shuffle. If the Board of Education and so-called superintendet think these posts do not represent the thinking of voters/taxpayers, they are out of touch with reality even further than demonstrated to date.

Someone described this bunch as the "Gang that couldn't Shoot Straight". That sums it up!

I agree! Teachers are the ones doing the hard job. They need the raise!

EVERY person that I work with at the school is NOT happy with our "boss man". I would love to tell him to his face but he is the kind of guy that would probably fire me for it. I have been at this school for some time now and he does not seem incredibly loyal to his employees.

Supt. Woods is what he is but he didn't give himself a raise. Yes, a lot of his short-comings have been pointed out but it is the board and the board alone that gave the raise and the 3 year contract. They are the ones that should have to answer to this action. Chances of a bond issue passing now are nil to none. The only thing that could help this is for Mr. Woods to be man enough to refuse the pay increase. After all, Mr. Wood, you missed a lot of school when your son was in the hospital. Various personel covered for you and your wife while you all were gone. Whether you all were paid during this time or not I don't know but you weren't replaced. It is time for you to stand tall, refuse the pay increase on grounds it is needed more in other places, and lead this community in securing better education opportunities.

You are right on! How the School Board could justify this action even in their own minds is beyond belief. The ill will created with school patrons, district taxpayers and the staff will linger for a LONG time! If you thought such an action would be well received, your ability to think logically comes into lay - perhaps you have no business even being on the School Board if this is indicative of your reasoning ability.

School Board, you obviously care nothing about the School District with your blatantly obvious slap in the face of EVERYONE concerned.
Save your efforts in even discussing a new bond issue - it is a non-starter.

Nice write up in the paper. I like how he says he (Wood) would do it for free. How about not taking the raise in the first place.
Sarcasm time-isn't it nice to have a greedy super who appears to be a liar and will NOT be able to pass a bond?

Yes we do need to clean house, the whole house. We also have an assistant super, which most districts don't (might I say also overpaid). Then there is the technology issue. Ogles is the second highest paid when you figure all the extra he gets paid for events for sound and lights. The school wi-fi is a joke that teachers or students can't use for education. So when PTO does buy equipment it won't work because our technology person lacks skill to run it. Not to mention he blocks even education sites that student teachers are taught with in college and our teachers do not have access to the newer stuff. We need to hire an outside technology company to come do it right and get rid of the ones who do not know how.

Lets see he is over maybe 100 or more employees, 10 or so buildings, couple thousand kids, and haven't had a raise in four years. He might should of asked for 20000, good boss or not that's a lot of responsibility.

So you think the work he is doing justifies him being the highest paid superintendent in western OK? When our schools are in severe disregard and state funding has been cut? Really?

He is not the highest paid in western OK. In 2010 Hammon made $115,000 and Cheyenne made $108,000 you know they got raises the last two years. Their $$ makes Elk City look like a slum. http://blog.newsok.com/educationstation/files...

Reydon probably makes over $100,000 by now and they only have 130 students.
