Wondering why the school is the way it is, they take all the fun out of wanting to go to school! No parties, no supporting the school teams, nothing!! Wish I could change it.......kids need to have fun to enjoy school!:(

They have 2 parties a year just like everybody else around here and they had spirit week the week of homecoming. That's the same as the other schools in this area. What else would you have them do? Maybe you need to go to a PTO meeting and voice your opinion if you have some ideas, this is definitly not the way to change things.

Like no tattoos to support your team on Friday, the 2 parties a year is crappy with parents not allowed! I know things are not what they use to be 20 years ago, but I'm saying the school system is upsetting when the kids miss out! Other schools in this area do more with the kids & got a better school store & attendance score why is that you think? Kids enjoy going to schools that just don't make them work all the time! Kids are only kids once they should enjoy as much as they can!! One parent putting a voice out there won't fix the problem! Only reason I put it on topix to see if anyone else felt the way I do about the kids missing out on the fun parts of being a kid!!

The parents are allowed at the parties, so I don't know where you got that information. I have been to everyone of my kids parties. If you don't like what they have at the school store then why don't you buy stuff and take it up there for them to sell, I know for a fact that is how other schools get the food for snack sale. School is not supposed to be a party, it's supposed to be a place to learn. The state board of education has set the reqiurements for our kids very high, which does not allow for a bunch of parties or days away from actual school work. Sayre's school grades where actually as good as or better than other schools around here. So why don't you quit complaining and do something about it. No, one voice might not be able to change everything, but one voice is better than no voice!

School store was meant to be score from the previous topic of the state scores! The only time I hear about the parties they do have is after they have them! I don't hate the school, it's a great school, my kids learn a lot, have tons of friends, never get in any trouble just stating the few things I wish they did different but since we bought a house here I will learn to enjoy what the school does offer & continue to do more at home that they miss out at school! I am also only talking about the lower grades nothing from 5th down! I hope to be able to attend more pto & put my word out there to make it a better place with having 3 kids ill be at the school for awhile!

You have obviously not looked in depth at the scores of the schools around us then. And if you don't know when the parties are then you need to be more observant and read the newsletter that is sent home monthly. Maybe you should consider talking to your kids teachers so that you can be informed.

Parents are allowed at the parties. They are also asked to work at the fall carnival which very few did. Did you, hello? Also, newsletters are sent weekly with elementary students as well as other notes. Maybe you should spend more time reading what is sent home and less time on Topix. Sayre School is a very good school and their scores were just as good as all the other area schools. It is also one of the nicest campuses around. Quit griping and volunteer if you really want to help out!

I do participate in as much as possible & if any of you looked at what I started this topic I was wondering why the school is the way it is! We newly being here I was curious if it was a recent change like in the last few years or if the school has always been this away! My kid enjoys school & everyone at the school is very nice! My point on all of it was wishing the school did more to bring the kids in, with a town not having much to do in bringing the kids in to support the school is important! We will be in this town for many years so just wanting to understand the area more! I don't spend my days on topix either, better things to do then argue with a bunch of people who I don't know personally! Just asked a question & got way more of an answer then I bargained for! I don't even care about the school scores if we had a problem with the education of the school I would of asked about it & I didn't!! We chose sayre because of the education value & with a college being here kids can get more of a head start on things!! I will admit things are much different this year then last year the teacher sends home a lot more notes & we get more phone calls on what's going on! Last year it wasn't like that for us at least the grade my kid was in which I won't mention either!

Yes I did, does that actually matter! It was 30 minute shifts anyone can do it & I have 3 kids who are all young & a husband who is never home due to working & no family or friends in this area! Anything else?

Having fun seems to matter alot to you. School parties are only 45 minutes or so and you got upset by that so what's the difference? I'm tired of people griping about the school!!!!

Hello- what does wearing a tattoo to support a team have to do with education? The school is there to provide your child with an education, not to provide entertainment!!! Tattoos and other nonsense items are a distraction to this process and are not allowed. Take your kids to have fun when they are with you. You chose to live here so those are the rules.

It supports the schools teams & that helps keep kids fit & their education up! Fun is not all that I'm wanting out of a school & if I could delete this post then I would! Again I wasn't referring to anything about the school just wanted to know if its always been this away in sayre! It's a great school education wise & from what I've heard the band does well to I haven't been here long to go to many events & see how things are! I have small kids so it will be years from now before I'm actively involved in the extra activities! The teachers are wonderful & everyone I have met is really nice! I wasn't gripping about the school just wanted to know what to expect in the coming years! Comment all that you want this is the last comment I will be posting on here!!!

The all sports did used to sell tattoos at the football and basketball games. They were very successful and the kids really loved putting them on their faces. I don't know why they don't sell them anymore. Think I might look into that and see if we can get it started up again.

Tattoos are fine to wear to the game but not at school.

What's up with the mass exodus of school personnel? Something is making a LOT of staff either retire, resign or want to do something else. Everyone is so ready to jump on "hello" They may be on to something. It's a top down thing?
