Speed camera revenue? You mean, for penalizing its own citizens without actual evidence that A PERSON committed a violation? What if the public found out what I know - that speed cameras aren't just triggered by speeding vehicles, but ARE TRIGGERED BY VEHICLE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRONIC components even when vehicles are travelling within speed limits? Just call "SafeSpeed" to find out what they don't want the public to know...and will not admit and have not reported while they continue to collect millions on citations without true legal representation.

I say use these citation funds to CUT THE DAMN GAS PRICES.

The law states that revenues may be used *only* for public safety improvements, hence the dilemma. However Montgomery County has already shown them the solution... IGNORE THE LAW! The county's contract with ACS for the speed cameras pays the contractor a per-ticket fee, despite a provision in the law stating that "If a contractor operates a speed monitoring system on behalf of Montgomery County, the contractor's fee may not be contingent on the number of citations issued or paid."

The county has chosen to reinterpret the word "operate" so that the contract is "legal"...despite state lawmakers who have supported speed cameras stating that any per-ticket payments violate the spirit of the law. So the solution to Chevy Chase's problem is to reinterpret the word .

They can also increase revenues by reinterpreting other words such as "fair hearing", "properly posted speed limits", "calibration checks", "residential zone" etc to let them do whatever the heck they want, regardless of any assurances the public has been given about the fairness of this system.

And the best part of all? Since Maryland and Montgomery county in particular are under one-party-rule and all the local politicians are all buddy-buddy and have appointed the police chiefs who run the program and the judges who decide court cases, there's nobody to take them to task on it! It's brilliant I tell you!!!

"Maryland law dictates how the revenue can be used. The money must be used for public safety purposes, such as pedestrian safety programs."

That pretty much sums up their options! Let's see if they actually comply with the law, unlike Montgomery County!

Hey I heard Ike Leggett needed a Bedroom to complement his $65,000 Executive Bathroom. I also heard each County Official wants their own Executive Bathroom as well. Money Well Spent Md.
