this is getting ridiculous. this country is not about justice freedom or equality. money gets you out of anything. even when the evidence, even when some "15 year old rice lake girl was forcibly raped" admits to SEVERAL people face to face that it never happend, some innocent kid will spend 8 long years in lock up for a lie. for some 15 year old girl that showed up late for home drunk and needed an excuse. she didnt want her car taken away. this 15 year old girl did not want her car taken away. i say screw this country. everything we represent is a lie. freedome liberty and justice for ALL. i'll believe is when i see it.

I agree 100%. If she admitted to many different people on different occasions that the rape was a lie, let this pour boy go. He has his whole life ahead of him and it's not fair for some girl to ruin the rest of his life just because she didn't want to get her car taken away. She should have thought about that before she went out drinking and came home late.

I feel sorry for this girl that she has to lie to get out of trouble for getting home late. What is a 15 year old doing at a party and where is her parents do they not now where she goes apparently not. What ever happend to inoccent until proven guilty. Does she realise what she has done to this boys life. What goes around comes around and I wouldn't want to be her. I THINK WE ALL SHOULD PRAY FOR HER TO COME FORWARD.

Burst was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor, and second-degree sexual assault of a person under the age of 16, a felony. He pleaded "GUILTY" to both charges.

Need I say more...where are the parents of both of the individuals involved? I agree with one of the previous writers about why a 15 year old girl is at a party where alcohol is involved. Mom and dad, where are you? Josh is 19, an adult, the choices WE as adults make lead to enduring the consequences or rewards of thiose we choose. I do hope the truth comes out and I also hope that lessons are learned...not revenge or hatred. Please understand that not everyone is perfect, myself at the top of the list, but we do have an example of a man named Jesus Christ that can bring healing to the hurting and can change a life forever.

Please, I commented on another post about the drinking (and drug use} in Barron County, how it is getting out of control, but, it is all me and my anger. Nothing is going to change until we see there is a serious problem. Too many refuse to see it.

I have one thing to say about all these people wearing this Justice for Josh Paraphernalia, if you are willing to wear the stuff be willing to talk about it. I had to search the internet to know what this stuff was since some people would not talk about the button that they were wearing that they feel so strongly about it.

There is a great need for parents to step up to the plate and take care of their kids and raise them "in the way that they should go" That is what "the Book" says. Parents need to step up to the plate and teach their kids the difference between right and wrong and drinking and all the other stuff that goes on with that. There is way too much of the "worldly veiw" in much of the world today. Where were the parents of all these kids and where were the parents at the house where all this happened? You have kids drinking and having sex in your house???? Whats up with that.

Joshua P. Brust, 19, of Rice Lake will spend the next eight years of his life in prison for forcibly raping a 15-year-old Rice Lake girl at a beer party on Aug. 19, 2006, west of Sarona.
Burst’s sentence was handed down Monday, Nov. 26, by Washburn County Circuit Court Judge Eugene Harrington.
Burst was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor, and second-degree sexual assault of a person under the age of 16, a felony. He pleaded guilty to both charges.
For the felony, Harrington gave Burst a sentence of eight years confinement followed by eight years in extended supervision. Harrington ordered Burst to serve the sentence consecutively with the six-month jail term for the misdemeanor.
Burst will have to serve all eight years of his prison term. Harrington made Burst “not eligible” for earned release or “challenge” incarceration.
Harrington also said Burst is to have no contact with the victim or her family and he must write a letter of apology and provide restitution to the victim.
The victim and her father made a statement to the court. The father requested prison time.
Washburn County District Attorney Michael Bitney asked for six years confinement followed by six years of extended supervision.
Burst’s attorney, Eric Nelson, asked Harrington for an “imposed/stayed” sentence, meaning a prison sentence would be ordered but, instead of going directly to prison, the convicted person is put on probation and if probation is violated, the person goes directly to prison.
Nelson also had made an argument prior to sentencing for “vacating” Brust’s previous plea agreement, a motion Harrington denied.
and for those of you who believe a 15 year old drives? are you insane? she did not own a car when she was 15.
the girl was taken to the emergency room the sunday directly after the rape where photos were taken, showing severe bruising on her pelvic area with scratches on her thighs and both arms. Clearly showing this was a forced brutal rape.
Justice was served to josh. He will remain in the prison cell for the next eight years, nothing anyone does will change that.
what 15 year old little girl lies to a court room of people under oath? There was also positive DNA EVIDENCE. People are also forgetting the fact that joshua jumped bail twice. Once for having sex with another 15 year old girl, the police caught them. The second bail jumping charge was for physical violence, disorderly conduct, and threatening teachers lives at Rice Lake High School.
What more is there? HE IS GUILTY AS CHARGED.

are you completely ignorant. You obviously aren't knowledgable of any facts. The crime happened in Sarona Wi. not chetek. If it hapened in chetek, the court would have taken place in Barron County, not Washburn. tom banks you know nothing.

If you don’t like the laws then have them changed. It is too late after the fact. The laws are clear in Josh’s case. He was engaging in a sex act with a willing particapant under the age of 16 years. He is guilty end of story.

Now as far as laws, I think the law that prohibits me from emptying you bank account at will is wrong. So I should be able go to your bank and with out question they should give me all your money and everyone elses.

Ellswore, it was a brutal rape or a 15 year old child, not two kids having sex. Read the court transcript and you will find out exactly what happened here. The defendant put himself in prison.

You are all idiots. I happened to be there the night this alleged rape took place and the victim didn't seem at all shaken by what she claimed the next day took place. I love how you base your opinions off of what the media says is true. Josh pleaded guilty because his public defense attorney was an idiot and claimed they didn't have enough evidence to go to trial, and if they did he could get 16-40 years. So obviously the kid is going to plea bargain for only 6 months in county jail with work release. But what happened was he got kicked out of his sex-offender class, for what he said was arguing that he was not a sex-offender. And that broke the plea agreement and he went back to court. Still NO jury trial ever took place. and the Washburn judge, telling him outright that he was going to make a example out of him, gave him 8 years in prison. Justice was definitely not served. But of course you're allowed your own opinion.

The convicted felon is in prison because he jumped bail twice while the case was in progress. Once for having sex with a 15 year old girl which the police caught them and the other was for threatening the teachers at high s chool. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, making this his second bail jumping. As for his sex offender class, he admitted to forcibly raping this victim and changed his story three different times, that is why he didn't complete the class. I think you need to get you're facts straight before responding!
