I just want to let Timothy J. Grendell know that putting people in jail for not paying there child support can and does cause crime.

I was a corrections officer at Lima Ohio. I am no longer a corrections officer. I never corrected anyone and neither has the entire Ohio prison system. I know a better way but no one wants to hear it.

If they would execute more and speed up the process we would not have this problem.

Your choice. Lock up drug offenders for many years until they are old and gray. Or treat it as a health condition like the rest of the developed world is doing. The former requires us to adequately staff the prisons and build more prisons. The later returns them to society as productive citizens. The former returns them to society old and bitter.

Let's start by legalizing pot and other trivial drugs.

Wow...Thinkmn is right on! Lets just leagalize everything including rape. In no way is legalizing drugs a solution! Why do we care honestly, if you're out there commiting crime(including drugs) then you get busted because you broke the law(no matter who YOU blame) then, you go to prison and get beat up...so what? That is a big deterrent for you not to break the law again! I won't break the law because no way i want to live in a zoo(ahain) for any period of time. You people out there that rationalize you're ILLEGAL behavior are the worst...get honest or you are destined to repeat...i don't know anyone that just smokes pot socially...God is the answer not drugs!

I have a great Idea ,Put all the law abiding citizens in the prisons to protect them from the criminals and let the criminals out,,Stupid statement ? Yes ! But its no more stupid than the rules that govern our prison officials ,who aren't allowed to punish the prisoners by lethal force ,when they riot or attack their jailors ,because of what the A.C.L.U. calls cruel and unusual punishment these people have to use caution at all times just to protect their own lives.
Our laws should be changed to intimidate these prisnors and lethal force should be allowed to
control these bastards and all this crap would be over..

From what I hear, there are a lot of people "about to blow" in prison. A lot have already blown.

Just give them back their cigarettes and allow inmates to smoke again. That in itself will help to reduce the violence and help to increase the State's revenue! Just because you are in prison doesn't mean you don't have rights!

"Yesterday, the Chesterland Republican challenged the idea of diverting low-level felony offenders from prison, or reducing the sentences of those incarcerated.

"Today's low-level offender is tomorrow's violent offender," he said."

Just a thought here, but where do they think these low level offenders get their violent offender training???

That's the whole problem with our prison system. The inmates have too many rights. Want to deter crime? Stack them in cells shoulder to shoulder with no TV, no congegal visits, no free education, no air conditioning, no nothing. Make it the punishment that it was intended to be. That in itself would cut the cost of prisons doing business significantly and may even deter repeat offenders.

If you put them in chain gangs and worked them hard they will be too tired to cause problems. Use the labor to clean up our highways and other areas in need.

We need to greatly increase the number of crimes that are Capitol offenses and speed up the executions. Make those executions public and make them required viewing by school children ..even those home schooled. We also should bring back pub lic floggings.

an example for a flogging would be , anyone caught trespassing should be publicly whipped buy the land owner or his designee. Then throw some salt on the wounds. If kids saw and recieved this it would teach repect for private property.
