Here we go again. Evidently the Dispatch doesn't like the way posts are leaning and have switched to the Political page dumping all previous posts in the process. Same thing happened with the Arizona issue. Their perogitive I guess.
Ok, before the "Grammar Cops" jump in it's "prerogative".

This bill is ludicrous. What possible motive could the GOP have in permitting CCW in bars? FWIW, I support the right to carry under normal circumstances; however, carrying a firearm while drinking would fall under the weapon under disability area. Anyone impaired with a mental issue is not permitted to carry a firearm. Being under the influence of alcohol or mind altering drug is the same thing though temporary. This proposal makes no sense whatsoever.
First of all, the law prohibits (just as it always has) a person to possess a firearm while or after drinking, and throughout the period of intoxication that comes after drinking. The purpose of this is to allow the permit holder to go to a restaurant with his or her family - a place like Red Lobster, Olive Garden or other place where alcohol is sold, and enjoy dinner. The permit holder will still not be allowed to consume alcohol if they are carrying a pistol. That part of the law has not and probably will never change.

I spent 34 years as a peace officer in Ohio, and I have never been afraid of a civilian and a gun. I don't like criminals with guns. There is a difference. Punish only the violators of the law, not the ones who are abiding by the law.
