There's more to this story. "Lake Erie property rights?!" There is some reason that this guy will personally benefit by remaining a state senator - something that he needs done. What that is, and why - we don't know.

Then why did he run for the House? And this guy is voting on laws that impact all Ohio citizens? Scary.

If you win an election, you should take the seat you won. I hope this guy never wins an election again.

Senator Grendell has always been known as an egotistical baffoon. He assumed his wife would get the Senate Appointment but theSenate leadership knows she is even worse than Tim.

He is staying out of spite. What a jack ass.

This is the guy who is so big on ethics. Really? You ran for something, the people elected you and you won't take the seat? Are you kidding me? This guy is a jerk and everyone in the Legislature and State agencies know it. His wife was a jerk and he is too!

Why would a state senator, run for a state representative office???

Question is raised of his agenda? Perhaps, so his replacement would be appointed rather than elected?

thats politics!

What a dirtbag. Secretary of state - current or next - should force him to take office, or force his removal from state senate.

Go back to geauga and stay there pig.

The Senate could expel Grendell with a two thirds vote and make him do what he pledged to do if elected, serve in the Ohio House. Please consider visiting this site and sign a petition to expel Grendell from the Ohio Senate:

Sounds like a politician, runs and wins and decides not to take it. What a waste of time and money. Remember his name and do not EVER vote for him again.

"Incumbent welfare" at its best.

He's going to remain where he can find his bread and butter.

It's unfortunate that these politicians such as Grendell tend to lose focus on the reason why they're put in office in the first place. It's suppose to be for the purpose of representing their district, their constituents. Once they get "cozy", screw the constituents, they are in it for themselves and will further their own political as well their personal agenda in any way possible.

This is another law that needs to be on the books--if candidate "A" wins over candidate "B", and decides not to serve, then candidate "B" gets the office. THis should not be left up to any paticular political party to fill the office.

So this jerk wants his wife to get the seat so she can make all the money he was making, and then he'll take the position in the House to make even more money. Sounds like the only thing this slimeball represents is his checking account. IMPEACH! IMMEDIATELY!!!

I agree. This is the weasel who put the circus together earlier this year that was supposed to weed out all the corruption from the cancelled sting operation at the Governor's mansion. Then it turned in to a sideshow that let old OSHP retirees come in front of the committee and whine about how elected officials and appointees are trying to manage OSHP operations.
