Is Your Electric Bill Through The Roof? - wtvr

Did your last power bill seem higher than expected? Some Dominion Virginia Power customers are noticing something on their bills they say they haven't seen before.

I pay attention to my Dominion Bill. Even when they changed the look of the bill in September, my bill still came up to about normal. If people would just follow the rates and pay attention to how much electricity is being used inside of the house, then the bill won't be so bad when looking at it. It might be understood.

[Power Bill Frustration]

I was shocked when I opened my Dominion Power Bill this month. It stated that that I had doubled the usage causing my bill to double. I did not take notice of using more electric. The heater thermostat remain the same. I would understand more if I turned my thermostat up and used more electric but I didn't. I thought I was the only one but thanks to WTVR I realize I am not by myself. Keep up the good work WTVR.

my electric bill tripled from the month before bill to my last bill..i expected an increase because of the weather but not that much..i live alone and keep my temp. set the same every day..68 is usually where it is kept...i just wear a lot of layers of clothes when home..i don't use a blowing heater either..and no xmas lights were on either...i still can not figure out how it tripled..was told it was weather related!!!!!!!!!!

I recently moved from a 1600 sqft (tri-level home) to a 1300 sqft (one level apartment) and I was shocked when I got my most recent Dominion bill. My bill was also over $300. My electric bill in my house during the winter only ran about $175-$200. I also notice the new "fuel" charge on my bill. I thought moving to a smaller one level apartment would have been cheaper. I guess I was wrong...

My bill doubled and is 749.00 dollars. That is crazy. I was in VCU with a liver transplant during this time and only one person living in the house for 3 weeks of this bill. My wife worked 9 hours a day and then visited me. So Dominion Power needs to actually come out and read my meter.

JAN I RECEIVE A BILL TOTAL FOR ONE MONTH,121.00. THE NEXT MONTH IN
FEB. I RECIEVED ABILL FOR 206.00. MY BILL SEAM TO HAD DOUBLE. MY PREVIOUSE READING KWH WAS 1229 AND MY CURRENT READING WAS 2099. 78.00 DOLLAR DIFFERNCE ACCURRED. VIRGINIA POWER HAS US UNDER THEIR THUMB.IF WE DONT PAY THESE EXTRA CHARGES,THEY WOULD TURN OUR SERVICES OFF. MY HUSBAND GOT LAID OFF WERE RECIEVING UNEMPLOYMENT AND DIABILITY AND DO NOT QUALIFY FOR THE ENERGY PROGRAM UNDER THEIR GUIDE LINE. THEY NEVER NOTIFIED US OF THIS. THE ONLY NOTIFICATION
WE RECEIVED IS WHEN THEY SAID ON THE NEWS THAT OUR ELECTRIC WOULD GO UP 25.00 IN JAN. THEY JUST TACKED ALL THESE EXTRA CHARGES AND GAVE ME AND MY HUSBAND THE SHOCK OF OUR LIVES. THIS IS OUTRAGIOS, WERE ALL SUFFERING, GIVE ME A BREAK.

va. power been creeping up since the summer.if gov.t can cap gas why not this also. i recieve disability and my husband unemployment and we still overseed the guide line for energy share program,that the va. power offers. from the working to the unemployed, were all suffering in this economy.No,we werent even notified of the changes that was going to exceed this amount.the news in jan. said 25.00. we went from 112.00 dollar to 206.00 for one month. this is out ra- gious. va power,should be ashamed,but thier not.

This is not about politics. Why would a clown like you keep blaming President Obama for everthing that goes wrong. Just a plain old hating "teahead."

This is really due to the recent installation of faulty equipment by dominion power. I demand the the state corporation commission investigate this rip-off immediately.

My bill from last month was 60% higher than any of the last 13 months! We weren't even in town for a week and had the heat turned to 55 degrees. Something is wrong with their systems or they are doing something dramatically different.

The real problem is we can't seem to get around the "Not in my backyard" syndrome. We need more nuclear power plants, we complain about the cost of oil, gas and coal fired plants, but resist approving nuclear plants. Pay now or pay later, we will pay one way or the other. Compared to last year, my power bill was at least $100.00 more for the same period, it should have been less since I now have a propane tank-less water heater and keep the thermostat set much lower, we actually wear jackets in the house, for us that is a totally new experience.

They do run nuclear power plants, and when they built them it was suppose to lighten the load so to speak. It has done nothing of the sorts. The state corporation commision refuses to look after the consmer for they are in bed with those companies. Way to go "teaheads."

Yes I agree. We should call 60 minutes on them. I hope 60 minutes investigates the lawsuit involving the Henrico County Chief of Police by one of his own officers. Maybe they will leave me alone. Please pray Mr. not a teahead. Thank you.

I recently got the shockof my life when, I finally got my mortgage reduced only to have my electric bill increase 70.00. I completed all of the home improvements to help keep the heat in, but what it seems like that I must do is help dominion power make improvements in their meter reading skills. My bill was $112 in December and now in January my bill is $180.00. My superintendent wants me to work three furlough days, now if I do that how will I be able to pay my electric bill, well at least when my salary is low enough I can qualify for fuel assistance. DOminion Power is constantly ripping people off and I think that the SCC needs to look into it. Oh wait half of them probably got laid off the last time the state had a reduction in their workforce.

First off we need to cap-off every "teaheads" mouth.
The next thing is to put a cap on dominions excessive
rates and guaranteed profit structure. The state allows
dominion to continue to be a monopoly.
We the people should DEMAND far more competition in the electrical
monopoly field. We all should write the law makers and make them
change this illegal monopology of electric services by dominion..
If they are unwilling to do so, vote all of them out of office.
