No, you picked on percentage rates while loopholes was the point..
I had two sentences: one pointed to 12.6 percent tax rate that was actually collected and the second was the reason the 12.6 effective tax rate collected was because of loopholes.

Republican tariff policy since Reagan handed our manufacturing base to China and elsewhere.....designed to bust unions.
Nice spin, but its making you dizzy. Unions destroyed American manufacturing. It started with Steel, then Automotive, Textile and finally their major coup the governmental unions which is about all that's left, but alas the weasel had already ate the chickens.

Buffett is the chairman, CEO and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway and consistently ranked among the world's wealthiest people. He was ranked as the world's wealthiest person in 2008 and as the third wealthiest person in 2011. In 2012, American magazine Time named Buffett one of the most influential people in the world.

That sounds great in the liberal academic vacuum.
Tariffs start trade wars.
We need to remove tariffs in other countries, not add more here, you idiot.
A friend of mine who works for the State Dept. tried to buy a Harley-Davidson while living in Norway. The taxes and tariffs were $15,000 on a $30,000 motorcycle. If we removed that tariff, Harley would sell more bikes overseas.
Adding a tariff to foreign goods in a tit for tat manner hurts small business people and consumers, while our aristocratic leaders still smoke Cuban cigars.
Liberals are dumb.
You remove tariffs in other countries by imposing tariffs on their goods coming in....LOL. You really don't get it.

As well, I'm more concerned about giant American firms who own the means of production to thousands of products overseas, being allowed to bring back in those goods tariff free. Stopping this would be a good move to restore our industrial base, or we could just do without Walmart altogether, it matters not.

People own corporations. They are extensions of their shareholders.
Some corporations are young and thriving. Some are old and dying. Some are in between. Some are run ethically. Some are not.
Generalizing about all corporations being evil is as dumb as putting on a white sheet and burning a cross.
Corporations help build this country. They mitigate risk by limiting the investor's liability to their investment. They help to create jobs just like other laws and entities that make America the best place to sell stuff. We just need it be the best place to make stuff again.
One of the biggest failings of our media is not exposing lobbyists. I think it's because they like many of the causes lobbyists espouse. The problem I see is that most Americans need a lobbyist. That guy is normally called the President, but ours is MIA, campiaigning on the golf course.
Once we remove secret dark money from politics, we can end lobbying all together, but it's become a big business model, sadly.

People need to take back their government from the corporate beasts who control it, and write policy to benefit their interests only. And OUR interests are rarely the same.

Tariffs and regulation will restore our manufacturing base. Europe and Japan are the most highly unionized nations on earth, and the most productive for their size.....

So it's not about busting unions and driving down wages, but RAISING wages and forcing corporations who consider themselves "American" to either commit to that, or make their bed elsewhere. We have no obligation to American companies who choose to offshore jobs and wealth, and need to make that clear by raising tariffs and taxation on those who do so.

Learn to read. I said the taxes AND tariffs were $15,000.

Norway has a 24% VAT. They also have a 14% tariff on goods from countries they like. It's even higher for countries and products they don't.

The guy worked for the State dept.. Why would he lie? He wanted to buy an American motorcycle while in Europe, but their taxes made it impossible.

By your own figures, this comes to 39%- not 50%, which makes you either confused, or a liar. Your pick.

I'm well aware of Norway's VAT tax.
