I am SO proud of the protestors. I wish I could have joined them today. More than 1,000 people in attendance means there are tens of thousands who wish they could have been there but couldn't make it. Gotta love America!

Why should the STATE DEMAND that a woman undergo a medically unecessary invasive procedure?
What does that mean to the doctor and their ethical standards?
That procedure is uncomfortable, ask anyone that has had one.
I thought conservatives wanted SMALLER GOVERNMENT? so what is this?
Well If Bobbie McD. wants to be considered a serious VP candidate, sending the women of VA back almost 60 years is not the way to go.

@ HOME. The reason they were silent is that the STATE told them they could have no signs, no chants, no yelling, nothing.
SO the only thing left was SILENT WITNESS to the debacle that the legislature has becomes. Imagine 1000 pairs of eyes on you as you walk between buildings and being one of those Neanderthal reps that voted for this bill.

One thing that has occurred to me is if this personhood bill is
passed, then a women who becomes pregnant should be able to take out life insurance on the embryo.
Then, if she should happen to have a miscarriage she should be able to collect on the insurance.
I think this personhood bill is another attempt to outlaw abortion.

Insurance companies are free to refuse coverage, however you could sue the state for child expenses it disallowed you to abort and forced to bring to term.

Yes, tragic but true; tens of thousands who have no qualms about sucking the brains out of a live human being for convenience sake.

Stop abortions using tax payer money! It's murder and every mother whom aborts a child should be charged with murder!

Anyone against a woman's choice to end her pregnancy should offer alternatives. Unfortunately since they provide none, they are not only being cruel to the mother, but also to the child.

Alternatives? Are you really that obtuse?

The number 1 alternative for abortion is preventing unwanted pregnancy in the first place. Not engaging in unprotected sex will eliminate almost all unwanted pregnancies.

The day after pill. Many still consider this abortion, but most people must see a major difference between aborting a fetus and hindering the conception process or even aborting a few mindless cells.

Adoption. Anti-abortionists can support adoption by making it a more appealing option. This means improving the adoption system and making sure that more children get adopted, and that they get adopted by good families. Individually, a person can support this by adopting a child.

The mother takes care of her own child. This abortion alternative can come in the form of various arrangements with a number of non-government support organizations. These arrangements involve offering the mother financial support and/or personal support.

Is that a start, or do you still think people who oppose abortion have no alternatives? Put down your tofuburger, step outside your occutard tent and take a breath.

They did't have the courage to vote when so many rational people are watching. Their mothers are probably ashamed...

murder is still murder no matter how rosy you make the picture or demonize a human being.

You raise a number of alternatives but fail to account for the fact that many of the same people who are against abortion are also striving daily to reduce or eliminate the alternatives.

1) Birth control: Catholic dogma is against all forms of birth control. A leading Republican presidential candidate has made it clear that he thinks states should be able to outlaw the use of birth control. Anti-abortionists also seek to block funding of Planned Parenthood and other organizations who provide birth control.

2) Day After Pill: Many of the same people who oppose abortion also oppose the day after pill for religious reasons. They also oppose making it covered by Medicaid.

3) Adoption: As we speak, Virginia seeks to allow adoption agencies to discriminate against loving and qualified adopters solely due to sexual orientation, notwithstanding enormous evidence that children raised in such homes do just as well as in traditional households. This reduces the overall number of adoptions that can be accomplished. Many of the same people who oppose abortion also oppose gays and lesbians.

4) Support for mother: Are you kidding? Every effort is being made to demonize single mothers, to reduce or eliminate support for them. The same people who oppose abortion often want to reduce Medicaid, social security, and other programs targeted towards low income persons.

You suggest a number of good alternatives to abortion. Unfortunately, the people most opposed to abortion are also opposed to most if not all of the alternatives as well.

I have been reading about the newer FBI definitions of RAPE. and guess what vaginally penetrating a woman against her will is considered RAPE. How can this state demand the RAPE of a woman??? That is what this unnecessary procedure is...rape rape rape.
Shame on you.... Bob Marshall should be charged and tried and found guilty and be put on the registered sex offender's list.

How can you defend the rights of women while killing them in the process? There are alternatives to abortion! When you talk about choice -- all women have a choice before they have sex.
