Citizens chide water officials for slow response to drop in lake level
Is Lake Chesdin half-full or half-empty? Members of the Appomattox River Water Authority's board may have been asking themselves that question last night as they heard from citizens who thanked them for the actions they've taken in response to a steep drop in the lake's level - but also criticized them for not taking action sooner.

So basically citizens surrounding Lake Chesdin are saying that the county should have cut off all landscape irrigation earlier, which would have killed millions of dollars worth of landscaping, so they can run their small businesses? I think if you decide to live next to or start a business next to a lake that is used as a reservoir you know you are taking a risk that at times the reservoir will be very low. I applaud our county officials for exhibiting prudent restraint in spite of pressure. I also look forward to being able to water our garden as soon as possible, although recent rains have been a real blessing.
