Sad to hear about anyone getting laid off. The alternative would be to put up camera's on the highway 64 overpasses like Charlack to ticket speeders. But they won't. I'm glad they still see themselves as public servants and not public fleecers.

They talk about finding good people to hire and then they just sh$%^t down their neck. They sound REAL Appreciative. Why not get rid of a couple of city cars and do a pay cut of a few dollars on every single city employee, instead of devastating families. The quickest way to ruin a community is to cut your police force. They should have just phased out jobs of people retiring.

Its funny how they let the verterans go. Im sure they have a few recruits in the academy though. I think they shouldn't let anyone go but instead have a hiring freeze temporarily or when employees retire or quit just don't fill the spots. Its sad to see that three officers who have served this city for many years are being let go. I knew times were hard but geez...

It doesn't surprise me that the yuppy bast#*&% of Chesterfield don't really care if someone loses their jobs as long as their taxes don't go up. I truly feel sorry for anyone that loses their job, but in Chesterfield??? Come on people, loosen your purse strings and BUCK UP!!! Save your emergency services! Support your police!

Public safety should NEVER be cut to save. Compromising public safety is a terrible choice. TERRIBLE!

Could this have anything to do with the FOP winning a lawsuit for collective bargaining?

It is hard to believe that Chesterfield is experiencing money problems with the "Valley" and the number of wealthy people that live in Chesterfield who are not experiencing an economic downturn.

I would be willing to bet that a number of pet projects are still funded.

The City workers have my sympathy it sounds like they selected people they wanted gone. What happened to seniority? What about retirements?

Do a you paid for it investigation.

Maybe Chesterfield needs a casino. That seems to be everyon'e answer to a revenue problem.

This sounds extremely strange to let the veterans go. Why wouldn't they let the lowst men on the totem pole go first. It sounds to me like this is their way of getting rid of certain officers to let these guys go instead of by seniority.

Age discrimination in play or stupidity? To be getting rid of police in of all places Chesterfield is simply absurd. Either the city council and mayor wasted money or the Tea Baggers are getting their way. Thats what the Tea Baggers tout, less government and thats what this middle to upper class enclave is about to get. Another nose getting off despite the face.

The truth is, Obama and Holder were going to sue the city for not hiring enough people of color. "Veterans" must be the new code word for anti-white discrimination.

Why is one of the richest communities in our area having to lay people off. Can you say poor money management, I think they might have fired the wrong person. What about the city administrator? Didn't the mayor give a bunch of money to metro, and now he's the CEO?

Something smells very fishy here. The police are always the first people to cut! Why did Nations wait until he was leaving to be Metro's CEO to do this. Think he got that job since he campaigned for the county sales tax increase to help out Metro? Wake up Chesterfield residents!
