Common sense should tell you that one county entering into another county should alert the county they enter. How were the Pine Lawn Police Department supposed to know who the "good guys" were? What would all you who talk about the policeman freezing have said if he had shot one of the undercover officers? You people always put people between a rock and a hard place. Anything the Pinelawn Police would have done would have been criticized one way or another. Stop making excuses based on race (which has nothing to do with anything) and focus on the big picture. The streets need cleaning up, these thugs need to be locked away, and the police who are on the take will not be able to hide forever!
Frannie you ignorant moron. Pinelawn is in St. Louis County. You need to check the facts before opening your dumb mouth. The facts are that Pinelawn is in St. Louis County. St. Louis County police have jurisdiction in the "MUNICIPALITY" of Pinelawn yet Pinelawn only has jurisdiction in Pinelawn. Maybe you could understand this one, St. Louis County Police have jurisdiction in all of St. Louis County ONLY. The Missouri Highway Patrol has Jurisdiction in all of "MISSOURI". See the correlation here? MO HWY PATROL can go into St. Louis County and do their J-O-B! They don't have to call Chief White and ask for permission just as St. Louis County Police do not have to ask for permission to go to Pinelawn because it is their JURISDICTION! Man...i thought this crap was simple but not with yoU!

A few years ago St Louis Co P D was involved in a drug bust at a Jack in the Box near 270 in North County at 3 p.m. while people were on their way home from work and school. One suspect was killed and another man in the car who was NOT a suspect was killed. There was no regard for other people's lives in the area that day. I don't think they made the video tape public from that shooting. No one says that a person threatning the life of a police office shouldn't be punnished, but they will NOT stop a drug suspect and shoot it out with them in chesterfield, creve coeur, ladue, clayton, etc., or would they? HMMMM. Brothers stop doing stupid stuff, and giving the knuckle heads a forum. You have a Brain! USE IT Dammit!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? ARE YOU SERIOUS? People like you are why this sity/county and the whole country is in the shape that it's in! According to your logic the po-po is supposed to just sit back and watch the drug deals, robbing and shooting go down because there are innocent people around. HELLO, that is there job is "to protect and serve". And I guess if the po-po just sat around watching while these thug drug dealing criminals shot at each other and an innocent kid got shot then you would be blaming the cops for that too. You sir are obviously as liberal as it gets. Blame everyone else for you troubles and want everything for nothing! good day.

OK Mr. Smarty Pants, I didn't say they needed permission, but they did need to alert the Pinelawn Police of what was going on! No matter how dumb you think they are, they are not mind readers either. DO YOU HAVE COMMON SENSE????

Frannie you obviously have no idea waht goes on in the real world of law enforcement.I am not in law enforcement but i have many friends that are and I hear first hand about life and death decisions that are made in less than one second. That's not enough time to call Pinelawn and say "Hey buddy, just want you guys to know that we are in YOUR MUNICIPALITY looking for criminals that you guys should have handled in the first place." Again you have no idea how the real world works, these St. Louis County Police were most likely following these thugs around different areas of St. louis County and the deal just happened to go down in Pinelawn. Detectives have to actually get evidence to build a case, not just pick random cars and accuse them of crimes. THAT IS COMMON SENSE...THINK ABOUT IT!!! I'm still not sure if you know that Pinelawn is in St. Louis County. I feel like I am talking to a wall or something.

First of all Ladue Police are actual policemen and not Keystone Cops, they do their J-O-B. Everytime I have heard of a crime in Ladue they nip it in the bud immediately. If this exact situation would have happened in ladue, the Police there would have showed up and returned fire on the car that started all of this BS...the CRIMINALS!!! I doubt gangbangers would go to an area like Ladue to deal drugs and do drive by's. If they ever did it would be their last because the Ladue Police Force is professional and put their lives on the line everyday for their citizens unlike the Keystone cops in Pinelawn that did nothing. Ask yourseld this, "If you lived in an area (anywhere) and your police officers that are sworn to protect and serve do not do thir jobs and put residents in lethal situations, would you really want to live there? Would you support your police for doing nothing? You would be on the next train out of town and you know it!

Well you're right about that. I would be on the next thing smokin', but I still believe they should have let the Pinelawn Police know they were in the area! I'm not saying the Pinelawn Police are good or bad. I don't know anything about them, but I do know they should have been informed. Them not knowing is what made them look so foolish.

And just how should they go about notifying the magnificent Pine Lawn PD? Should they call dispatch and have them broadcast it over their radio? "Attention all cars. The County drug unit is at (so and so location) conducting an undercover narcotics investigation." Criminals have scanners you fool. I don't think it's realistic to ask them to comprimise their investigation to keep that tiny cr*phole muni "in the loop."

Frannie: I am in law enforcement. please, just stop posting your comments. IT IS OBVIOUS you have no law enforcement knowledge what so ever. If you knew the history of muni's like Pine Lawn, added with the ever so changing pace of actual "drug interdiction"; stopping to make a phone call IS SIMPLY NOT DONE!!. Calling other departments, NO MATTER WHICH POLICE DEPARTMENT IT IS, IS JUST NOT DONE, under these circumstances. Undercover officers are just that, UNDERCOVER. Most of the time, they dont carry walkie talkies (radios), they dont wear a badge, they dont have all the police gear that many of you are use to seeing. WHY? They dont want to get killed by the drug dealers. Again, UNDERCOVER!! Most of you are use to seeing a fully uniformed officer with badge, gun, handcuffs in a fully marked police car. The investigation could have very well have started in the heart of stl county, but as with MANY MANY investigations, it lead them somewhere else. In this case, it lead them to PINE LAWN. This did not happen in a course of 24 hours. The investigation is being done in real time. no time for second guesses no time for phone calls, no time to think about dinner, not even time to think about their loved ones. now, they went to Pine Lawn. Once there, these drug dealers opened fire on the police. Some how, some where, the suspects either FOUND OUT about the undercover officers OR simply started shooting at people who happen to be undercover officers. Either way, BAD GUYS SHOT AT PEOPLE for whatever reason. Now, THINK REAL HARD ABOUT THIS..... If officers are being shot at, do you think they had the time or even thought about making a damn phone call???? AND, if they did have the time, DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD CALL PINE LAWN FIRST????? Are you that ignorant? I hope that makes sence to you, cause if you cant get the 411 by now, its a lost cause.
On a personal note, THANK YOU COUNTY OFFICERS for a job well done. Thank god you all returned back to your family, ur friends, and the cop brotherhood!!

Well the one nice thing about all of this is, that we wont see the nascar of police fleets on the highway anymore. I have never seen so many damn stickers on a police vehicle. And the mayor is so full of himself he has name on the car. Last time I check YOU ARE NOT GOD. You are a mayor of a low income area. Hell from all of the reports that I have read you dont even live in Pine Lawn. Doin' some good in your hood. What a real moron.

TRAVIS: The Mayor doesnt live in Pine Lawn. He lives in the Florissant area. He owns a house in Pine Lawn and pays taxes in Pine Lawn, but he certainly doesnt live in Pine Lawn. He is also known as SYLVESTOR THE CAT on a local radio station. He also drives a blk Police Charger with emergency lights and sirens in it. Ask yourself. Why would ANY politician, especially a Mayor, have a police car with lights and siren?? He honestly thinks hes a police officer. They have another city council person who thinks hes a police officer too. Even has a badge, uniform and carrys a gun. You see... The Mayor wont fire the Chief because the Chief has too much INFO on the Mayor. The Chief wont snitch on the Mayor, cause the Mayor has too much INFO on the Chief. This is the same Chief that is CURRENTLY on probation with the Department of Public Safety (POST). He is on probation FOREVER!!. Cant even carry a gun outside Pine Lawn. He has been accused of rape and even suspected of murder. His brother, CHIEF OF BEVERLY HILLS, has been caught LYING to POST, but never faced charges. All this during Pine Lawns Chief RAPE investigation. YES< RAPE!!!! All i can say is that the Pine Lawn City Council is a complete JOKE to even allow the Mayor and their Chief of Police to remain in positions that are critical to the SUCCESS of any town. The city council should vote to take away the Mayors POLICE CAR and vote to fire their Chief. Do you know that tax payers are paying for this police car the mayor drives. All the gas, tires, oil changes all included!! Why does ANY mayor for ANY small city need a tax payers paid take home car?? They meet once a month for council meetings and vote on issues that doesnt make sence. But, I guess they have to make it seem they are "working". COME ON PINE LAWN RESIDENTS... STAND UP, FIGHT FOR YOUR TOWN. DONT ALLOW THESE IDIOT CITY COUNCIL PEOPLE CONTINUE TO RUN YOUR TOWN INTO THE DIRT.
In other news.. Their Chief wrecked his take home police car in Jennings. There is evidence that he was some what DWI when this happened. He BEGGED the person he hit not to call Jennings PD. WHY??
also, look at his police car. He has a trailor hitch. WHY does the Chief of Police have a trailor hitch on his police car?? I assure you its not for police matters. its for his HORSES!! He uses city property, tax payers money, to pay for his personnel habits. The residents of Pine Lawn are getting RAPED still by the same rapist and the Mayor and City Council allow it!!

I agree with you. The Pine Lawn cops have always been like the "Keystone Cops" in the movies many years ago. I used to date a girl, years ago, in Pine Lawn. My biggest fear was driving down Jennings Station Road and being stopped for one of those jokers for anything they wanted to stop you for. Yes, in the '60's, when I hung out in Pine Lawn alot, we Caucasion Americans were stopped. Wasn't called racial profiling though and we weren't out doing drugs, robbing and killing people. At worst, we may have been going a little too fast on the road but you better believe that when we say a cop in our rear view mirror, we better pull over immediately and have ALL the answers to the questions he asked. Then, we would head home to the Hyde Park neighborhood of North St. Louis where we lived and only hope that we were doing everything right and not get stopped by a 5th District cop before we got home. Those guys, back then, didn't mess around if they stopped you. I think the proper terminology of their actions today would be cryed out as Police brutality. What has happened today to MY BELOVED NORTH ST.LOUIS city and county? Is is a pitiful shame.
I grew up in Pine Lawn in the 60's and 70's. The parents moved our family about 200 miles south. I have been trying to find a girlfriend of mine that I grew up with in Pine Lawn that I have lost touch with. We both lived on Ravenwood. The city has named a street after her father, Steve Marre. He was an Alterman in Pine Lawn for many years. Would anyone know Lisa Marre or know how I can get in contact with her? I am sure she is married and I do not know her married last name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you! Sharon Collins Bassham

I went to Normandy High with Steve Marre. We were friends in the Class of 1958. A wonderful guy and I'm happy that street honors him. He would be very happy to see the beautiful new elementary school rising in Pine Lawn just north of Natural Bridge and Jennings Road.
