So sad it happened in front of my house with my kids outside riding their bikes, along with my other family memebers and neighbors. I don't blame the County officer because his life was in danger too!He could've been killed. He was also being shot at! It still took pine Lawn (who's station is right up the street) a long time to even show up to the scene!

This article has the video from "Rain Putting Damper on Little League Baseball." Can you put the actual Pine Lawn shoot-out report/video up, please?

a gun was recovered. If the police officer was going to shoot then why didnt he fire his gun. the officer froze. they are trained to shoot to stop the threat not just watch it all go down and freeze. maybe that pine lawn officer needs to step down and do something else. i feel sorry for those citizens. i dont blame county for not informing them, cause rickey was probably in on it. or else he would have screwed it up. i would bet my life the county guys had tactical gear on that said police and also their badges were out. pine lawn officer just froze period.

Political statement being made by that idiot. If he cleaned up that town (which by the way is headed like all the rest in No Co), this perhaps wouldn't have happened. He's a dumb moron.

#1. They were in STL Co.
The STL Co. Police HAVE Jurisdiction.

#2. Pine Lawn is in STL Co. therefore the STL Co. Police Do Not have to consult with Pine Lawn Police.

#3. If You Do Not have a Conceal Carry Permit, you are not allowed to have a Gun in your Car for Protection and therefore are not allowed to shoot at people you don't know just because you are scared.

#4 The Pine Lawn Police should do a better job of keeping people like this out of their community if they don't want situations like this.

If you Carry a Badge, you have to MAN UP and do your job and don't Freeze.

Our soldiers don't get a second chance and North STL Co. is a War Zone.

Maybe the Pine Lawn Police are in on the drug trafficing and don't want outside help. Don't seem like after everything going on around there no one wants to try to run the dope heads out of town.

xlr you dont need a concealed weapons permit to either own or carry a gun. you just cant conceal the gun without a permit legally. gun on dashboard bullets in glove box is still legal. you know nothing about this law.

as long as rickey collins and mayor kaldwell are there the drugs and guns will continue you to go through there. cause they are helping out dealers. but if you speed and drive suspended they are on top of that cause that is all they know how to do is write tickets. no real police work.

I agree with you. The only thing they know how to do is write tickets. You cannot trash O'Connor because he is trying to be professional about but this article makes him look like a cry baby. County doesnt have to tell them when they are doing an investigation, they were doing their investigation and they did the right thing when the car was under fire they fired their weapons not only to protect themselves plus the citizens. The real question is why no discharge from Pine Lawn. But if that employee was up on the highway (100 yards stretch) they have how many tickets would he/she written. Or GOD forbid if there was a broken down auto up on the highwat watch how fast they tow that vehicle. Now that right there is some police work!.

Rickey, go sit down and shut up, you picked the wrong side to fight against this time, it was dangerouse but the drug dealers are dangerouse and could have done this anyway, and it not been the police they where shooting at, then you would have a problem. This isn't a problem.

They dont care about its citizens they care about tickets and tows. They are too busy writing tickets rather than patrol the city. If they would ever patrol maybe something like this wouldnt happen as often as it probably has.

You are so wrong. Castle doctrine allows for anyone to have a weapon in their car,no CCW required.Later.

I am sure your view point would of changed in the event your child had been struck by a bullet...

I agree with you. The Pine Lawn cops have always been like the "Keystone Cops" in the movies many years ago. I used to date a girl, years ago, in Pine Lawn. My biggest fear was driving down Jennings Station Road and being stopped for one of those jokers for anything they wanted to stop you for. Yes, in the '60's, when I hung out in Pine Lawn alot, we Caucasion Americans were stopped. Wasn't called racial profiling though and we weren't out doing drugs, robbing and killing people. At worst, we may have been going a little too fast on the road but you better believe that when we say a cop in our rear view mirror, we better pull over immediately and have ALL the answers to the questions he asked. Then, we would head home to the Hyde Park neighborhood of North St. Louis where we lived and only hope that we were doing everything right and not get stopped by a 5th District cop before we got home. Those guys, back then, didn't mess around if they stopped you. I think the proper terminology of their actions today would be cryed out as Police brutality. What has happened today to MY BELOVED NORTH ST.LOUIS city and county? Is is a pitiful shame.

Isn't this the same police department that got golf carts a few years back to help them get to know their community? Personally, I think there is major corruption in the Pine Lawn PD, no, I can't prove it, but Pine Lawn obviously doesn't want to get serious about crime in their town. Start making examples out of people and it makes the other lowlifes think twice, or at least leave.
