I'm sitting here stunned. I just found out about this today. I'm sorry for Stacie and her family. And I'm sorry for Ken's family. Obviously this happened.. but it's so hard for me to believe. I didn't know Stacie and I certainly won't sit here and malign the deceased, and in all fairness I haven't seen Kenny in almost 20 years. But I am honestly stunned. The man I knew would have NEVER harmed a woman. He thought of woman as wonderful gifts from Heaven. But as he confessed, I guess there is no question something has changed.. but I would still like to believe that some of that is still inside and maybe with God's help he can eventually help others. Is it fair that he has a second chance and Stacie doesn't? NO.
But maybe he can help this from happening to others.. like an alcoholic who's killed with a car helps others from doing the same. From what I gather drugs were involved...
For those of you who have never been on serious drugs.. you have no right to make judgment on something you do not understand. For those of you who have.. well you know.
To Sarah: I'm glad he has someone to stand by him, Twinkies or no. ;)
To Robyn: you too are a true friend to Stacie.. however you really need to temper your phrases when on here. I understand you have a right to your opinion, but you also know that his child reads this and someday her daughter might, and YOU have a responsibility as well.
Stacie was an adult who made the decision to date who she wanted. I'm not saying she asked for it.. I'm saying at least she in part could make decisions framing her future. These girls are COMPLETE innocents in this whole thing, and snide comments about getting in an argument with him are not necessary.
I'm heartbroken for everyone involved. And I hope someday healing will come a bit easier.

well its coming up on 3 years since shes been gone, i havent been able to get in contact with her daughter but ive spent alot of time with her when she was little and i would love to let her know how wonderful her mother was and she was a wonderful friend. I have many memours of her mother. As far as Kens daughter she is innocent, HE'S not and will never be. She needs to realize he took a life from this world, and he needs to be punished for that. That REALITY!! IF second chances were going around and confessing what you did and not for someone to do it, we would have rapist and murders walking aroung everywhere. Just because you confess and you find god in jail doesnt mean you are innocent again!!!! He will face that in time with himself in jail, where he belongs. Sorry, thats how i feel. I miss Stacie and im sure her family does too. Kens family can talk to him and visit him and thats great for his daughter. Stacies daughter cant! People need to remember that.

Yeah you are right.. just realizing he did wrong doesn't make him innocent.. However he will be spending the rest of his life behind bars.. not walking around free. Why not use that time actually trying do do something good?
Even if only 1 person learns from it.. maybe that's one less best friend not mourning her friend as tragically as you are.
No one suggested by saying "second chance" that he should be released.
Drugs and bad choices is what put your friend in heaven, not some maniacal need to murder on Ken's part.
There is no excuse for what he did. But there are always reasons. If some girl decides t have that next drink KNOWING she shouldn't.. and ends up having a one nighter with some guy she doesn't know.. it's NOT his fault for taking advantage.. it's HER fault for making that choice to drink more. If a guy ends up killing someone because he continues in the lifestyle of drugs like Ken did.. it's not the drugs fault he lost it.. it's KENS. No one is making excuses for him. However, i knew Ken prior to drugs and then on the cusp.. I was there with him. I made the right decision.. he didn't. If he can take others back to that point and show them how to make the right choice and what happens when you don't .. i mean hell.. what else is he going to do?.. He should do SOMETHING to atone.. and knowing him the way I do and the fact that he no longer lives THAT lifestyle.. then I gotta say.. I can see him doing something to help others.
I was also told that Ken wasn't actually dating her and that she did drugs as well. I did NOT hear this from Ken.. but from others that knew the situation.
So you tell me what kind of innocent girl does drugs when she has a 4 yr old to raise?? Or even INVITES a KNOWN drug addict into her home when she has a small child present.
I'm not trying to mock your pain.. but it's been 3 years.. try giving this all a thorough thought. I love and always will love Ken.. he was my best friend... HOWEVER.. knowing he was that deep into drugs, I probably would have helped him into a rehab center but no way in HELL would I put my children at risk for ANYONE. And I am the bleeding heart that takes in strays.. but a known drug addict with a record?????
I gotta say it kinda pisses me off the way they make her look like an innocent angel and him a violent evil monster..
reality is all too often warped in the media.
And making everyone believe that he killed his "love". is just twisted.
HOWEVER don't think that that means I think she deserved what happened.. She made a bad choice and it's horrible that she had to pay such a high price.. but maybe others can learn from that as well.
oh and GOD is spelled with a capital G.
THANK YOU!

Stacie's daughter was visitng her father at the time of her murder, and she was a very good mother!! What she did in her time when her daughter wasn't around may not have been the best decisions but never in front of her child. And when im talking about my friends life being lost, im not thinking about being vocabulary correct!! You know ive known Stacie since the 3rd grade and she wasn't always into drugs either, so dont go there with his past!! He didnt turn her murder in til the NEXT day, and then took her car right afterwards!! He had plenty of chances to turn a bad situation into a right one! Yes he is behind bars for the rest of his life, he should be! He still gets to see his family and watch TV and see every holiday. I dont care if they were dating or not, strangers kill strangers everyday. I dont care if everyone on here praises Ken and his changes, I will always stand up for Stacie and her memory and the person she was, bad choices and all!!

you need to calm down.. first of all no one ever praised Ken for any changes.. 2nd he LIVED in her home.. are you going to say that all that time her daughter was with her father?
My mom had a saying.. lie down with dogs people think you are one..
I already said it wasn't fair.. i already said he deserves to be in jail.. AND i already said regardless of her behavior good or bad.. she did NOT deserve to die.. especially like that..
and get a reality check
yes YOUR friend is dead .. YES OUR friend killed her
yes HER situation is worse.. but that doesn't mean people who love Ken aren't hurting and dealing with a lot right now.. True Stacie's daughter will never see her mom again... but she also won't have to walk through the halls at school with everyone knowing her dad killed someone.. Yes it's worse for her .. that doesn't mean it's peaches and cream for Ken's daughter.. Other people are suffering too. Not just Stacie's family. So stop playing blog police and let others have an opinion.
As for standing up for Stacie.. no one was attacking Stacie.. loving Ken doesn't automatically mean someone will HATE her.
And yeah he had plenty of times to change his bad situation over the years and he never did.. which is why he is where he is and will stay there.
But just because i think that he should use that time to help others.. this does not mean i think he's ok now YAY Ken
it means maybe if he tries to help younger offenders who are behind bars by sharing what put him on the path and showing them how NOT too.. then maybe next month or next year.. some other best friend won't be losing her mind on a blog defending her friends honor!
try thinking of someone other than YOURSELF!
look at it this way.. he owes society so he should help turn others away from drugs..
you want we should just blow up the freakin prison and be done with it?
Is everyone with a family member or friend in prison supposed to write them off.. say FU i don't know you!
would that make you happy>?
because everyone here has been saying how sad they are fro Stacie and her family AND Kens family.. and yes they deserve sympathy too..

im not going to argue with anyone on here, we all have mixed feelings about the whole situation. You can greive for your friend, and ill greive for mine. Ive been greiving for three years, you just found out. Ill never defend that man in any way, although i feel for his family in everyway. May his daughter be blessed in her life along with his family. Ken on the other hand, well he will deal with that in time.
Im glad Ken has you as a friend to defend him just like you should be glad Stacie has me to defend her. Thank you for sharing your opinion.

I Can't beleive this. I just found out about Stacie being murdered. I am so sad. Stacie, Robyn, and I had went to school and hung out together sometimes. I had moved away and lost touch. I was actually looking for Robyn and Stacie when I found out. I am in shock. Stacie was so sweet. She was always laughing. She was always making everyone laugh. I don't care what people do in their spare time, murder is not acceptable. I am so upset this guy did not get the death sentence. I read in another article he also threatened to kill another ex girlfriend after he killed Stacie. He said he would kill her next when he gets out. I am so digusted my taxes pay to house this trash. I truly wish for Stacie's sake and his and his children's that he would have been forced to get treatment for his anger issues. Even though I am so angry I truly beleive the sytem is broken. After all the restraining orders filed against him you would have though someone would have ordered him to seek a psych eval and treatment. That being said, all of us as adults are responsible for our actions and must pay. Too bad he never saw the light. Stacie never will again. Stacie, I will never forget your smile or your laugh. Rest in peace old friend, you are loved and will never be forgotten.

He found God...great. He can use that when he meets him. Being under the influence is unfortunately for him not an excuse. It is an explanation but does not release him of any or all guilt. He did the crime now he will do the time. You would want the same if it was your daughter he killed. He doesn't deserve this much thought. I'd love a thread about how amazing she was.
