Although the Law Enforcement Officers Act does allow an off-duty police officer the right to carry a gun almost anywhere, if your going to get drunk and kick a guy in the head until you break the orbit of his eye until he is airlifted to Allegheny General, you probably shouldnt be a cop to begin with. These guys give us good guys a bad name.

A prayer?

Sure are glad you are not in Industry anymore and hopefully, not a cop either. You defend a pig that abused his duties he swore to uphold, even off-duty he has a responsibility to his badge!

"During a fight in the parking lot of a Hancock County bar June 7, handguns fell out of the waistbands of two off-duty police officers, one of whom has been charged with malicious assault. It is difficult for us to imagine a situation more fraught with peril. What if one of the guns had gone off accidentally? What if someone involved in the fight had picked up a pistol and used it?

Hancock County sheriff's deputies arrested Brian M. Lynk, 30, of Aliquippa, Pa., after the fight in the parking lot of a nightclub near Chester. He was charged with assaulting a man who required hospital treatment for his injuries.

Lynk was off duty from his job as a Midland Borough, Pa., police officer when he was arrested, according to the sheriff's department. He was with another off-duty officer who was not charged.

Both men were carrying handguns, as permitted by law, while they were at the bar, according to the sheriff's report. It added that during the fight, guns fell out of the waistbands of both officers, and onto the ground. Lynk reportedly retrieved his gun immediately - but the other officer's weapon was still on the ground when deputies arrived.

We don't know the circumstances surrounding the fight - or whether Lynk is guilty of the charge against him. That will be up to the courts to decide.

But while we recognize that off-duty law officers often carry weapons, there are situations in which they should have been left at home. Again, it requires little imagination to understand the danger of loaded handguns on the ground during a fight outside a bar.

The authorities in both Midland Borough, Pa., and Hancock County should look into why the officers took guns to the nightclub - and whether they broke laws by doing so. If so, they should be prosecuted. If not, the situation may call for state and federal legislators to take another look at rules regarding off-duty police officers and weapons."

This speaks volumes for this DICK & ROGUE PIG!

It's amazing that none of you bother to follow stories that you comment on or for that matter look into them before commenting.
Lynk's charges were dismissed AT THE PROSECUTIONS REQUEST because upon their investigation they determined it to be self defense with only 1..thats right ONE..strike!!! The attacker..excuse me the "victim"..was air lifted because he had a BAC of over .30% and only suffered a black eye for his rear attack on someone trying to stop a fight. Plus Lynk did not drop his gun, he stopped it from coming out of a holster as he ran to HELP.
I took the time to look into Officer Lynk's background and learned that not only has he never had a legitimate complaint filled against him, never been disciplined but he was in fact a highly respected and decorated officer. I hope this negative press doesnt hurt his career to much because when you need help he IS the type of officer you want to show up.
As for "i know the idiot" well I know who you are. Being the sister of his exwife Im not surprised that you showed the class..or lack there of..that you and your sister possess. Posting blatant lies disquised as aqusations made by his ex-wife during a nasty divorce...after walking out on him and their daughter..is typical for you. If you knew anything at all you would know that he isnt married so get the facts and some class!
Brian I havn't seen you in years but I hope you know that not all of us are so quick to judge. Best wishes and Im glad the courts are more reasonable then the judgemental morons who hide behind the internet.

You obviously don't know him that well. For years I watched him beating her. And yes she stayed with him for God knows what reasons but she did. And she didn't abandon her daughter she left her with me in a safe place because she was terrified that he was going to hurt both of them when he found her. And he was just indicted for that crime. He was kicked out of the Army for failing a drug test and he was fired from being a police officer. And look up the law suit filed against him and 3 other officers for a violent unlawful beating.

Lynk was sober, punched him once and was defending himself. Which is why he was cleared for self defense. I find it disappointing that after the he was unfairly represented in the press no one bothered to report that he was cleared for defending himself!
