I called Terry to ask about monitoring and received a wireless system with door contact plus a motion detector plus a remote and warning sign etc for free. Even the installation was free. Good deal!

My free system came with 2 way voice which is something I'd never heard of. If my system goes off I don't have to wait for a call from the monitoring center- I'm connected directly to the center through the speaker and mic built into my keypad. I can hear them and they can hear me. I also got a deal on a monitored smoke alarm. If I'm not hear and there's a fire, it automatically calls the fire department for me. I'm very glad I finally did this.

As a former firefighter I can testify that a monitored smoke detector can save your life. In most fire deaths, people don't die from fire, they die from smoke inhalation. Chemicals in smoke can quickly leave you dizzy, delirious or unconscious. A typical detector sounds a loud warning, and that's it. A monitored smoke detector sounds the same warning but can dial the phone and call for help. There's a small fee for monitoring, but this is something worth thinking about. When seconds count is too late for what you could have done. Just my thought.
